Bibik Turns a Year Older!

My best maternal aunt, Bibik (Anz’s mom), turned a year older! Although I only knew of her party at the eleventh hour, I shuffled my plans around a bit so I could attend it. Bibik has brought countless smiles to my face with her nonsense, so I guess the least I could do was to attend her mini-get together :)

Nothing much to talk besides the above, so tada! Pictures :)

The Birthday Lady!

A round of prayers for a better future for all :)

Sharing a birthday cake with another aunt, Wak Pah, also a December baby.

The besty couzy I can’t live without.

Working together to create wedding gifts for Kak Tikah’s (Anz’s elder sister) wedding in February.

My mother the Ninja.

Tres cute, no?

Cigars Anyone?

One of the gifts I got for Christmas was a box of chocolates which looked so much like cigars, that I only realized they were chocolates after tearing open the inner packaging.  To offset feeling so silly about myself, I decided to play the same trick on the boyfriend so that instead of laughing at myself, I can laugh at him! (Girlfriend contoh + mithali.)

I set up the scene pretty good I think, by telling him that I got the cigars as Christmas gifts and perhaps we should try it out  (in line with my notion to try everything at least once) to see whats the brouhaha all about. After a few minutes on the line, I got him hooked line and sinker, and I think in ways he was more excited then I am!

So one fateful night, whilst seated at a bench after having our dinner, I threw in the bait and laughed my heart out (inside) as I saw him make a fool of himself. I watched his grin as he toyed with the box, his eyes straining to read under the dim light, and listened to his soliloquy:-

Wow this looks expensive! I have never tried one like such. Is it legal in Singapore? Made in Swiss? Is it imported? Will I get fined if the police catches me smoking one of these? Hmm… So how do I open it? Oh wow this is cool!

*Smells chocolate packaging*

Hmm, how come there is no smell? Nevermind. I cannot wait to taste it seh Bie, thanks so much for sharing it with me! Ok shall tear the wrapper now - you tearing yours? We do one each la, don’t share. If cannot finish we throw away.

*Tears wrapper*

Ooooh- eh wait! BIE! THIS IS CHOCOLATE!!!!

Wakakaka the look on his face was priceless, as is the picture you are going to have in your head of me rolling around the bench unable to control my laughter. Of couse when one plays such a trick one cannot expect to get away scot free, so I will be paying my dues pretty soon enough :)

Indoor Bbq at Faddy’s.

As Kimmy was pestering us for a BBQ since it had been a long time since we had one, and I wanted to do something indoors as I have not been feeling well (as of the whole bloody December), we compromised and planned for an indoor bbq at my crib.

Lawa rambut, Kim? Klua camp pon masih nak pakai camouflage?

Joined with Baby, Nassy and Mik (Introductions : Mik is Nassy’s friend who has become my friend after we were introduced a month back. He is currently single. Say Hello Mik!), we began the day at Jalan Bahar’s Sheng Shiong which pretty much sucks.

I don’t care if they have instant Kang Kang Noodles (for those who don’t have time to visit Bomohs), or cheap prices. Which rightful supermarket does not have STINGRAY?! This was the second time I went there to get stingray and was let down. TET! PANGKAH. Prime market lagi best! (Promote kedai mak jap wakakaka)

After rounding around the place for approximately one hour (Don’t get me wrong, it’s not big at ALL. We were just indecisive on what to get), we headed back out into the hot hot sun…

… and into the coffeeshop next door for some drinks before we begin the 3 bus stop hike home. At this point of time, I was pretty much sapped out of 75% of all my energy as my temperature had increased rather drastically. (Even the moment of happiness when I found out my bonus money was in only managed to quell it for mere minutes).

Chef Kimmy thinking of what to cook.

Dropping ingredients - Caught in the act of littering. Saman limaploh sen!

Baby kena kick out of the kitchen. Kesian dia sorang-sorang atur pari.

After a trip to Prime Market to get the compulsory Stingray, we headed back home and started cooking. Well, make that only Kimmy and Nassy who started cooking hehe! Haikal and Mik were off doing more logistics, whilst I was rendered useless as I felt so damn bloody weak.

Totally felt like popping some pills and leaving them to their own devices, no kidding :/

And so the BBQ began, and they ate, whilst I tasted food and had my head floating around the room.

Roar?

Mik must be wondering what he has gotten himself into haha.

Ok maybe not. Dia pon dah jadi gila skali.

Sayang Haikal and Fondue.

Marshmallow Monster.

Faddy dah nak pengsan tu.

Trying to impress them with my drawings, tapi tak menjadi. Jadi bahan ketawa ada ah :(

Kimmy my BestManFriend!

The kids left my house at around 8pm, after a round of board games and talking cock session. The moment the last pair of feet stepped out into the corridor, I found myself popping three yellow pills, collapsing on my bed and waking up only at around 2 pm the next day hahaha!

Love the day, kids :) Hopefully the next time we do something like this I’m going to be feeling much much better.

Arab Street with Fitree and Sandy.

After what seems like eons of not meeting up due to Sandy’s unusual working hours and Fitree being in the army, we finally managed to steal some time for dinner and a short chilling session at our usual haunt, Arab Street.

I still find it cool up till today that by being friends with Fitree through his blog around two years ago, I found the guy of my dreams and two friends I know I can confide in. I think if all of us take a step back and think about it, some people exist in our life through the weirdest of ways, but they are there for reasons that may only be understood as time goes by :)

We spent the next two hours just snacking, playing card games, and laughing at/with each other before heading for home due to our work/school commitments the very next day.

It was a very short meetup, but a fun one nonetheless. Baby with his new jeans *inside joke*, Sandy with her infectious laughter and Fitree with his play with words… like the following:-

Faddy : So when did you meet Sandy? (We were talking about the day)

Fitree : Around 2 - 3 years back ah…

Sesungguhnya mintak kene taplek.

Suzuki Cup Semi-Finals.

Haikal sprung a surprise on me by buying us a pair of tickets to watch the soccer match together with his cousin and her bf, as well as his friend and her friends! After Za’s birthday party, we rushed down to Kallang just in time to get third row seats somewhere near the goal post, which was not that bad, really :)

Weather was good, atmosphere was static, and we were surrounded with super on people so all’s good bebeh! Ok picture vomit for you guys, as no words can describe how disappointed I was that we lost :/

I think one of the highlight of the event was a makcik sitting close to us, who was practically a living loud hailer. Some kekek quotes from her:-

To Alam Shah, who missed a shot:-

Ey Alam Shah! Balik Shah Alam sua!

To a policeman patrolling the area:-

I very angry you know! Very angry! Come find me at West Coast! I blanja you makan!

To the teenagers *cough* who rose up to the Tet-tet-tettettet-tettettettet- B*** outcry:-

Eh ape korang ni maki-maki! Kau tak nampak ke anak-anak aku yang kecik ni!

*5 mins later*

Tet-tet-tettettet-tettettettet- B***!!!

And from her little son:-

Mak, please mak keep quite, please?

Hahahahaha! Thanks Baby for the suprise! I enjoyed myself very much! And thanks Susi for being my female shouting kaki hahaha :) More soccer matches, hun?

Zarina’s Daughter Turns 3.

Xmas Gift Exchange.

Unlike the previous year where everyone in the whole department bought everyone else a gift (resulting in Bodyshop getting a 150% increase in profits), this year due to the recession we decided to cool it down and play Secret Santa instead.

At everyone’s prodding, I got down to creating a Christmas Tree for all my colleagues to jot down their wishes so that everyone gets what they want instead of something which will probably end up being a recycled gift for someone else.

I think the best Christmas wish on the whole tree comes from my Sales Director, Celine (see picture below).

Hahahaha stopitsey. Nevertheless, in true Department 2 spirit, my colleagues and I brainstormed a couple of ideas to make her wish come true and the following was what we did at last in 10 easy steps.

1) Google up images of the Aston Martin DBS V12, as well as the Aston Martin logo. Crop to size and print.

2) Cut both images to shape.

3) Paste the appropriate sides together, as well as the cotton stuffing to make the keychain look more 3D.

4) Laminate the paper so that it won’t look so cheapo, and to add that glossy effect. Aston Martin, okay!

5) Paste Aston Martin logo on black box to cover the words “Maybank” (which was printed on it). Giggle at how budget the whole project is.

6) Insert keychain ring into whole punched on car image.

7) Make whole package look nicer with ribbons and padded tissues etcetera.

8) Eat a fantastic cake from Cadele at the pantry with the whole department. Make small talk about the cake containing oil and not butter.

9) Laugh our asses off whilst Celine opened the gift and laughed her own head off.

10) Laugh again as she put on her real christmas gift (which was a pair of Guess sunglasses) while exclaiming, “Wow! It’s so pretty! I look better then Paris Hilton!

The End.

Haha as you might have guessed, work was rather unproductive today. Everyone was busy going through the hundreds of pictures from the party last Friday, laughing at those who got so pissed drunk that they don’t recall anything which happened that night or opening Xmas presents and comparing them :)

As for me, I finally got my own Gorrilapod! But the only available color was yellow, so I think I might have to make that trip down to Artfriend to get some paint and paint it red, so that it will match my other camera accesories. Yes, I am anal like that haha!

Have a good week ahead everyone!

A Post for my Baby Love.

It’s a quarter past one in the morning, my eyes are heavy, my body sore from all the activities I did for the past weekend, and I have work in a couple of hours time. Rightfully I should be already lying on the bed snoring away, but I’m going to squeeze in a couple of minutes to blog about something important. (MUSH ALERT)

Bie, I sayang you very the many and I want you to know that you have made the past weekend one of the best ever! Thanks for waiting 11 hours for me, thanks for accompanying me to Za’s daughter’s birthday party and being such a wonderful sport and thanks for bringing me to the soccer game (even though Singapore lost preekkkk).

But most importantly, thanks for all the things you did during the moments you were and were not by my side. You just made me fall heads over heels in love with you all over again, Haikal Ab Hamid :)

Marriage and Engagements.

So yesterday, someone I hold really close to heart informed me that her boyfriend and her will be getting engaged at the end of next year (So honored that I am the second to know after her own Mum!). Then I  found out that a relative of mine will be getting engaged sometime during the second quarter of that same  year too.

These two engagements will therefore be the 3rd and 4th engagements that I have been informed of for next year, as God Willing, 2 of my closest friends who grew up with me will also be doing the deed. And of course, the end of 2009 will also see my colleague finally tie the knot with her fiance.

I turn 21 next year, and all these engagements + marriage talks of the people around me (who are approximately around the same age as I am) are further amplifying the fact that I am growing old and entering a new phase of life.

To tell you the truth, it kind of excites and scares me at the same time. I cannot deny that it has made me think about the extent of my own future, but at the same time I acknowledge that I am light years away from being ready to be someone’s fiance. I still act and think like a kid, I still have to get back to school, and I still want to splurge more on my parents, amongst other things.

In a summary, nope, I don’t see myself joining the line within the next 2 years haha.

In any case, I pray that the plans of all 5 of you go smoothly InsyaAllah, and to you who just informed me about your engagement yesterday, I am so damn excited for it and I promise to be there with you throughout that special day :)

FAE Xmas Party ‘08.

Unlike last year’s party which was an Xmas lunch in the office itself, this year the celebration was held at The Rupee Room. Overall, what I remember is that I had so much fun dancing and hollering the night away with my lovely colleagues (Disko Papan!), that my department has the most sporting people around, and that some people become extremely - to put in a polite way - hyper when drunk (free flow mah).

I saw sides of my colleagues that I have never seen before (all my higher management have MOVES), and it was Awesome with a capital A when my two of my besties at work finally loosen up as the night progressed, that we even ended the night with a series of impromptu coordinated steps to the song Superstar hur hur hur.

‘Twas a great party, even though I admit the part that I had to run to the toilet at the shopping mall next door more then 3 times in that few hours due to my diarrhoea and when I saw looks of disdain from a certain someone kind of tarnished it a bit :/

Stopitseh, the only men on the dancefloor were the two directors (who were busy dancing with each other haha!) and we were only dancing within our colleagues whom we are close to what? To top it off, the whole area was exclusive to our company, which means there are practically only WOMEN in the whole damn room!

Where’s the fun in the party if we sit down and sip drinks (non alcoholic ones at that) when the whole motive of the night was to dance the night away to corny 80’s songs and whatnot whilst relishing each others’ company?

So anyway, even though I walked back into the night short of the 37″ Toshiba LCD, I did walk away with an invitation to hop aboard the Director’s private plane for breakfast at Tioman. COOL OR WHAT? I think that’s way more exciting then a television set! Haha…

Now I need to rope in 3 more colleagues who wouldn’t mind hopping aboard the plane with me cuz silly besties say they are scared because they wouldn’t know what to talk to him about -.- Nak kene taplek satu-satu.

P/s. I cannot emphasize enough how cool beans my bosses are. Mr Bely for the plane invite, Celine and Cyrille for dancing kao-kao the whole night, Cik Yati and Siti in their gypsy fortune teller get-up and motivating us to get up and go mad. I LOVE MY COMPANY!

P/s/s. Note I did not say job. That one is debatable. hahahahha!!

P/s/s/s. No nice pics as I was too busy having fun hehe. Have a good weekend everyone!

Travel agencies today are more aptly called holiday planners, arranging anything as varied as a norwegian cruise line to gobi desert crossing. They take care of smallest details like even hotel reservations, and are determined on leaving a lasting impression about everything, from air travel experience to dinner cruises. A lot of vacationers tend to prolong their stay, taking up cruise ship jobs in particular, to extend their cruise vacations.
