The Kingdom (Review).

The Kingdom certainly delivers its promises in its trailers of an adrenaline pumping movie, and yet it has managed to bring out much more. I have to admit that the film, about the investigations of a terrorist bombing led by FBI officer Special Agent Fleury (played by Jamie Foxx), has definitely knocked my sense of distaste for war movies off the wall and has opened up a whole new genre of films for my viewing.

Thanks Nuffnang!

Being one who keeps up with the blogosphere, I have to admit that the latest debacle over the Nuffnang issue was blown out of proportion until even I felt the heat. But because of a few events that spilled from one comment I made at Endoh’s blog, I can say that Ming, the company’s boss, has restored faith in me :)

Wehostyou.info

Over the past months I have spent blogging on my own .com domain, I had many people asking me on the costs incurred and the process of getting one etcetera. One thing I noticed across the board was that everyone had this impression that getting my own domain cost me a bomb and the process was a very complicated one.

Well, you guys thought wrong! I am currently hosted under Wehostyou.info, the brainchild of one of my online and real life friend, Uncle Sha, and for the past few months that I have signed up with him, I daresay I have not one complaint.

Before I begin on my review, let me just highlight the following (trust me, you won’t regret clicking):-

Beading and Beyond!

During the past few weeks, I have become acquainted with a spunky lady named Kak Em, of whom I hold much respect for. Other then the multiple personal things that we share, one of the main topics which would always, always come around would be her exponential love for her beads and jewelery making, and thus, her online shop, BeadingnBeyond.

The Friday Box!

If you were born around the 1988 era, do you recall buying small black plastic bags from the mamak shops at the void decks when you were in primary school? The small sealed bags which cost fifty cents apiece would contain like SO many knick knacks inside, and every time I managed to buy one using my meagre pocket money, the anticipation of knowing what was inside would drive me crazy!

NTU Muslim Society Freshman Camp!

Woohooo! One of my favourite bloggers, Idza as well as Yat’s missus, Humairah, are in the organizing committee for NTU’s Muslim society Freshman Camp! You know it’s gotta be good cuz they’re in it. hehehe.

Anyway, from what I see and read, they got a good concept going on, and the registration is pretty darn cheap too! $18, which includes a goodie bag, tshirt as well as all the meals needed throughout the entire camp. Good deal, no?

They’re looking for participants and helpers all around, and by all around, this means even Non-NTU Freshmen and Non-Muslims are welcomed :)

  • Camp Date : 24 July 2007 - 26 July 2007
  • Payment : $18 (inc of goodie bag, tshirt and meals)
  • Details : Click here

  • RoomsDB.net

I recall quite some time back, a friend of mine who’s a Malaysian studying in Singapore griped about how he found it hard to find room rental here in our country. According to him, classifieds and ads are rather sporadic, and agencies which assist in getting rooms usually charge a high fee for the service.

Sebastian, the ehem, good looking (picture under the cut) sole developer and “team” behind the non-commercial http://singapore.roomsdb.net, too faced a similar issue when he was an NUS student here a few years back. However, unlike my friend, he decided to create a change by providing a solution at his own cost, aiding throngs of others who faced the same situation.
