So… Who are you?

My name is Faddy (short for Nur Fadhilah) and I am a twenty-one year old Malay-Muslim lady living in the good ol’ island/country that is Singapore (no, it’s not in China, nor is it in Malaysia. It’s that dot you see UNDER Malaysia – nope, that wasn’t your booger either.).
A Girl Next Door would be how I deem myself to be. I look average, I dress average, I think average, I do average. In short, I am just like any other girl that you might find living next to you.

I am currently in the working force as I did not make the cut to enter the local universities – twice. This inability to score for that one final exam which would make my parents the proudest in the world is viewed by me as the only epic failure(s) in my life… Ok maybe only next to that incident when I fell asleep whilst standing in the train, resulting in my body half collapsing to the floor mere minutes later in front of twenty-ish pairs of eyes. If that’s not an epic fail, I don’t know what is.
So anyway, failing the second try of the final exam happened a year back and I have pretty much moved on with life. I am currently under the employment of an import-export company dealing with an array of electronic goods, and my job is to make sure the goods get from point A to point B, as well as do product catalogs for the company sporadically.
In this point of view I find myself really blessed because nothing I studied before had to do with the shipping industry and my only ‘expertise’ in using Photoshop is erasing blackheads from my face for this blog. Praise be to Allah for the doors He has opened!

Come mid 2009, I will further improve myself in this field I am in by taking an Advanced Diploma in Shipping and Logistics. The cost will run up to the thousands, so anything I earn from this blog will assist in footing the bill.
When I am not in my cubicle at work, you can find me with my family of 5 at home, with my boyfriend clambering around the island, with my friends chilling in cafes or behind a computer blogging, which pretty much shows how much I blog.
I have been blogging since I was 15 and I have never looked back since then. Throughout a multitude of domains since 2003, I have blogged about anything under the sun. ANYTHING. Search for whatever and chances are I have blogged about it in my string of blogs (note that my nomadic life has ceased with the birth of fingersdontfing).

I blog because blogging gives me the power to prop on stage two of my biggest passions, writing and photography, without having to conform to required standards other media asks of. Armed with my Panasonic Lumix LX-3 and interesting thoughts and memories in my head, I pen down my thoughts on the World Wide Web for readers like you to hopefully enjoy and share your own comments on certain issues :)
What on earth does “Fingersdontfing” mean?
Well, other then the fact that i just could not seem to register nicer domain names, it was because i was greatly humoured by an article which my General Paper tutor gave me. It was titled “English is a Crazy Language”, author unknown.
Unlike those boring yadayadayada kind of GP essays, this one was superbly crafted in a way that it will leave you saying “Eh ya hor!” or if you are the British-type, “Bloody Hell!”, as it brilliantly highlights the paradoxes within the English language.
Here’s an excerpt:
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites, and quite a lot and quite a few are alike?
And another one:
If vegetarians eat vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Rather interesting, isn’t it? Well, there was one phrase which particularly attracted me and i felt that it had a nice ring to it:-
If writers write, why don’t fingers fing?
Yeap so that’s basically why i chose this domain name to house all my write-ups for the years to come. That is, if, i am still blogging in years to come. (I know you want me to :D).
