#11 – Ice Skating

Present number eleven was Ice Skating at the Kallang Leisure Mall! So did you guess it right? hahaha! Anyway, for those who have yet to go there, prices are $17.50 per person per slots of 2 hours (ice skate rental fee inclusive). Please bring along your own gloves and long socks, or you will have to buy one at the counter.

This is embarrassing to say, but, I cannot skate for nuts hahaha! Well, at least I cannot at that point of time but I am SURE I can do it with more practice. I think it’s more of a fear of falling that keeps me from performing, because fall on my butt I did (not a graceful fall at that).

Baby on the other hand skated really well for a first timer but hmm he practically is good at this kinda thing so I am not surprised *pfft* (bingit sebab Haikal sempat cuci mata at chicks passing by while I was trying hard not to fall).

#12 – Quiksilver Belt

Once we were done from skating (too tired to finish up the 2 hours), while we were watching the world whiz by, I handed him his twelfth present – a Quiksilver belt that he has been eying for weeks. I think the look on his face was worth the time I spent going to a couple of outlets looking for his size :)

#13 – Rubik’s Cube

We were supposed to head straight out for an early dinner at a surprise location right after the ice skating session, but due to the rain storms happening around the island, my ‘helpers’ were delayed.

In a clever last minute tactical decision, I managed to buy time by tempting him to play at the arcade next to the ice skating rink. Member dapat trial drumsticks baru dok hahahaha!

#14 – Surprise Picnic

Once I got the call from my ‘helper’, we headed out into the damp evening and as quoted from Haikal’s blog:-

After that, we rushed off to dinner. She ‘reserved’ us a place in a very exclusive restaurant right smack behind tanjung rhu. Yeah, so we strolled down the bridge after the indoor stadium. I was quite impressed and surprised on how she planned the day. It went very well indeed. But the best part of the day has yet to come.

me: “bie, where exactly is the restaurant?
her: “oh, it’s behind those condos.”
me: “err, okay. but i know of no such restaurants there.
her: “it’s somewhere special sayang, you’ll see.”
me(grinning): “okay, if you say so.

Overwhelmed i was when i saw the “restaurant”. A mat placed in the middle of small field and on it were servings of italian pasta, salad, chocolate pudding and sparkling juice. it was perfect. a perfect picnic spot. =)

Earlier in the week, I had chanced upon a lady and her brother (a chef) who did catering for couples or groups and found her prices, presentation and services good enough for me to trust that my order will  go without a hiccup. And that it did!

Even with the heavy rain, she delivered barely minutes from our arranged timing, and all the food were stored in such lovely packaging which had streamers, napkins and cutlery and even plastic wine glasses. Surprisingly, the sparkled juice was still chilled and the food, warm! The proportions of the food given was very filling (even Haikal couldn’t finish his portion) and the chocolate pudding was pure heaven *slurps*.

You can view her menu at her website, but please note that the courses are customizable and you can just email her what you want and ask for a quote:) Very friendly lady! Contact her (Ms Fizah) at harezah@hotmail.com, foodstop.com@gmail.com or at her direct line 9296 4566.

Oh, and thanks little brother for helping to set up the picnic and keeping an eye on it until Haikal and I arrived. Much love!

#15 – Big Red Pen

#16 – Fossil Wallet
#17 – Willingness to play Soccer with him

We thus spent the remainder of the evening just absorbing the tranquility of the area as the cool wind embraced us, as he looked at all his presents and opened new ones. Once we got bored of lazing around, we started playing soccer and shizz like that for an hour or so.

#18 – :)

Some time before we wanted to head off, a little friend dropped by in the form of an injured moth, of which it’s broken wings made it unable to fly. Haikal took the opportunity to capture him in many different angles and finally sensing my itchy legs which cannot wait to go off, he left it on a flower after my prodding “Correct what? You put it on the flower, at least it won’t die hungry even when it cannot move elsewhere!” Powerful logic, I have hahaha!

Oh! And whilst we were on the bridge walking back to Kallang, this cutey of a dog was kept amused by us throughout the entire distance. Haikal noticed that every time either of us were to stamp our feet a tad louder then the usual, the curious dog would stop, turn and look at us for a couple of seconds before following it’s owner.

So me, inspired by the game “Freeze” which I used to play during my childhood, asked Haikal to gamely join me to freeze in a different pose every time the dog turned! So there we were, two lunatics, making funny faces and poses to a dog every 5 seconds or so along the bridge hahahaha! Oh God, I am so merepek it amazes me.

#19 – Threadless Tshirt

We ended the day doing an activity that I asked him to choose, and he chose to window shop at Suntec City Kwa kwa kwa~ Nevertheless, it was fun as we weaved in and out of the crowds, and I finally brandished him my nineteenth present of the day – a Threadless T ordered through GimmeGimmes barely 2 weeks before.

And since it was his birthday after all, I sent him back home right to his door step at Sembawang rather early and went back home sweet home…

#20 – Midnight Surprise
#21 – Birthday Cake

Only to reappear at his doorstep at midnight, get him to make a wish, blow the candle, cut the cake and rush home 10 minutes later hahahaha! Thank God for old friends who are willing to drive me out to Sembawang after a long day at work at such short notice (at 10pm in fact), much appreciated man :)

Anyway, the look on Kal’s face was priceless as he opened the door:-

21 gifts i received on that day which included the best surprise of it all. I’d call it “the midnight escape.” It was a wonderful surprise. I was in my boxers and my tshirt when i opened the door as the clock striked twelve, i found her holding a cake with a lighted candle singing happy birthday. I was happy.

Glad you loved the simple day I had planned out for you dear :) Happy 21st Birthday Old Man!
