Haikal’s 21st (Part 1).

#1 – DIY Birthday card with movable candles, soccer ball and teeth

A week back, my dearest Haikal turned 21 and I racked my brains to do something which would not cost as much as last year (economic crisis people!) and would involve only the two of us, but would still blow him away and make it the special-est day possible :)

So for weeks I went undercover, asking him subtly about the things he liked and didn’t like, asking around for art tips etcetera and finally went ahead with my plan to give him 21 gifts – both made and bought – in celebration of his turning 21. Of course, all the gifts have a significance behind them, the details of which are apparent only to the both of us.

#2 – Lion Daiso Toy (Personal joke)
#3 – ME! Because the 3rd is our ‘day’

The plan was to meet at 11:30am under his void deck and finding myself being late, I rushed over in a cab. As soon as I was standing outside his apartment, I kept calling his phone but to no avail. Knowing that the bugger must have overslept, I called his home and his mum invited me in.

Bagedil, people told you one week ahead to wake up early, you still go merayap and come back only at 8am in the morning. How to not be sleepy, Bonpet?!

#4 – Skateboard Loan valid for 2 weeks

Greeted with a smile still branded by air liur basi, I waited for him patiently as he bathed and managed to sneak into his bedroom the first four presents for the day. Haikal was super excited upon seeing the skateboard loan haha. Sorry Bie, I’ll get you a real one on your 22nd or something :P

#5 – DIY Book of Memories

#6 – Black Marker

After bidding goodbye to his mother, we headed out into the hot day and it was under the void deck that I gave him his fifth and sixth gifts – a self made book in the size of a normal credit card and a black marker.

So yeah, as part of making the day a memorable one, I made him draw out every single present that I will be surprising him with sporadically throughout the day. This way, even if the present is not a physical one, hopefully his drawing of it might conjour up the memories that happened with that image.

#7 – Prickly Heat powder

Like for instance, the Prickly Heat powder as present number seven. I am sure that as of print he would already have chucked it aside in some nondescript corner but with the book, he will have to remember the disappointed look on his face as he kept on receiving one ‘cheap’ gift after the other! Wakakaka!

Muka disappointed hahaha!

Finally a big smile after receiving present #8 – A pair of drumsticks from Hickory

So when he finally received a ‘real’ gift that is the pair of drumsticks when we were in transit at City Hall MRT, the smile on his face was practically too big for his face I tell you hahaha! ‘Twas so cute *giggle giggle* (ok ni part mintak kene sepak hahaha!)

#9 – Rebonding Machine

Present number nine was a sample of my company’s rebonding machine hahahaha! Seriously, I wish I had captured the –.–||| look on his face whilst we were in the cab to the mysterious location in Kallang which I had in store for him.

What? He’s always complaining that he wished his hair was not that curly what? Isn’t the rebonding machine thus a very fitting one? HAHA AMEK KAU!

#10 – A pair of gloves.

And the above tenth present is a clue that I had for him as to where we were going, and the boy got it right at first guess (Actually he guessed it even before he got the gloves)! Are you as street-smart as him? Kekeke… Stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog entry to see if you got it right! (Step mana nye game show ajer Faddy hahaha!)

P/s. Happy 20th Monthsary bonpet! Hope you’re having fun at your class chalet!
