Cluedo.

For the past few days, my siblings and I have spent more time together as a group then we ever had since the beginning of the year. Sure, we were always under the same roof, but everyone would be doing their own thing. It wasn’t a miracle that managed to change the scenario, but instead, it was simply a board game named Cluedo :)
For days, I have been bombarded with television advertisements promoting the revised version of the board game and the tub of Swensens Ice Cream that comes with it. The following point might be truly puzzling, but every word of it is true : A major factor why I bought the game is because it comes with a free tub of ice cream.
No, it did not really strike me at that point of time that the tub of ice cream could have been purchased for much less then the board game itself ($46.90); all that was ringing in my head was “It comes with free ice cream!”, and that pretty much became a justifiable reason as to why it’s perfectly fine to spend that $46.90 even though I was down to my last $100 for the month.
(Funny how the moment the cashier placed $3.10 back in my hands after I handed her a crisp $50 note, it suddenly struck me that I might have to resort to eating Maggi Noodles for lunch every day till my pay comes in… which didn’t quite give me the awesome feeling I was anticipating.)

But in the end, I guess it was worth every cent. For hours, the brothers and I would sit together and put on our detective hats, trying to solve the murder that has happened. We would laugh over silly giveaways that one of us did (”Lucky I never show you my Dining Room card!“) and kick ourselves in the asses if we were the ones who did those silly giveaways. I enjoy myself every time I play Cluedo so much so that it even managed to pry me away from the Internet (which is a great deal).
So yeah, Cluedo is a darn cool board game which I think is a should have for every household :) It allows the children to put on their thinking caps, to learn the art of deceit (wakaka) and most of all, it gives families opportunities to spend time together – an opposite effect the current onslaught of console gaming has.
Want to know what’s the most ironic thing about all of this? I didn’t even like the Swensens Ice Cream in the end.
