Sentosa with Sunshine!

Wow, it’s been more then a week since I last blogged isn’t it? Kekeke… It takes so much time and energy to turn on my computer after long days out that I really just can’t be bothered to edit pictures or write anything. Weirdly though, I’ve been penning my thoughts using ye ol’ pen and paper, which takes much less of a hassle (but at the sacrifice of aesthetics, seeing how fugly my handwriting is) kekeke.
Ah well, since I’m quite sick of editing pictures for work and am rather pleased with the pictures the boyfriend and I took with the Lomo Fisheye during our trip to Sentosa yesterday, I shall squeeze in some time to blog about the fantastic day out we had, albeit it being a short one :)
And to set the mood, a song which has been stuck in my head for the past few days. I’ve not been ‘listening’ to the lyrics so I don’t know what the hell the song means, but the tune keeps me all happy so just listen to the music hmmkay!

The day started off at Underwater World, where Haikal and I gawked and stared at the most beautiful and not so beautiful creations of God. It’s been years (not exaggerating mind you) since I last went in there so yesterday was just like stepping in there for the first time, no kidding.
We held on to our respective Lomos and took pictures but knowing that my Fisheye sucks in low lighting, I was silently cursing that of all days the brother needed to borrow my Canon, he had to use it on that day! Oh well, at least it’s better then Haikal who unknowingly took a couple of shots without opening the lens cover of the Holga wakakaka!
But yeah, seeing how pretty everything was, I think I just might enter the aquarium yet again. Seeing that I don’t think I’ll ever dive, perhaps standing in an enclosed glass case is the closest I will ever get to feeling like I’m in the middle of the ocean.

We saw sea creatures of the most fascinating kind; neon colored, reef-like, spiky, sleek, in all shapes and sizes and truly, it was remarkable that we are actually living in the same world with such awesome creations. Seeing how the earth is being damaged at an exponential rate in recent times, it would be such a waste if these creatures cease to exist one fine day. Already, much marine life have been wiped out from existence and the list of endangered species just keep on piling on and on.

I think that the sea holds home to the most unique and aesthetically pleasing creatures that God has created so far. Every creature is just do different from the other in every aspect possible, and the sea is just so damn huge that I bet there’s millions more creatures that we have yet to ‘discover’. And there, a creature’s uniqueness makes it a subject of awe, unlike humans. I don’t think we’d be going “Ooooh” over a blue and yellow colored human wouldn’t we? haha!
Anyway, I think the Underwater World is just too bloody small can? For $20, I expected a bigger area to walk around but in roughly an hour plus, Haikal and I have covered the area more then twice. Hmm… Oh well, at least I managed to touch sharks, stingrays, fishes and watch two turtles make out and make babies hahaha! Animal Porn! :P

There was a snake charmer standing around the entrance of the tourist attraction site, so Haikal and I stopped by and chatted with the guy, whilst caressing the snake in the rattan box. I recall recoiling away from snakes when I was younger, but as I grew up I became less nervous at the thought of being in close proximity of one. Actually, now that I think about it, I absolutely love the feel of the snake’s skin!
The boyfriend was also quite apprehensive at first, but after much cajoling from me, he finally stroked it :) So proud of him for overcoming his fear haha. Hey, who says boys are indestructible?

We then went for the customary walk on the beach, just talking and enjoying the sea breeze which carried laughters and hollers from the other beach goers. Sitting on a yellow bench (which was sitting on Siloso beach), we observed the people around us; scrawny Ah Bengs throwing frisbees, underaged Mats running around with soccer balls on their feet and cigarette butts in their hands, free-spirited adults playing a game with Taggers.

For a moment I felt like joining them in their revelry, the feeling of crisp sand on my feet and an exhilarating sense of freedom in my heart, but Haikal and I had a plan, and a plan is not a plan if we don’t execute it :) So we trudged on in the hot sun and humid weather and after walking past flies having a feast on a dead snake, we finally got to where we wanted to get to:-

Sijori Wondergolf! I think that the place is really aptly named as it really is a wonder that the attraction is still open to the public seeing how run down the whole area is. For your information, the feast for flies was at the entrance to the location, and practically all the holes were marred with cracks, broken things and were homes for throngs of mosquitoes.
But since we were already there, it was ‘only’ $10 and we had been looking forward to it all week long, Haikal and I just went ahead with much positive energy, credits to him of course. What’s new kan?

Besides us there were only another group of Malay teens playing and we could say that we practically conquered the whole place, as the other group were a few holes away. So Haikal and I spent the next hour plus playing golf like how only we know best - being patient and playing the right way for the first few holes and later on, frustrated by all the mosquito bites and the insanely humid weather, hacking away at the ball and relying on coincidence to make it a hole in one.

Although I have to admit the latter was more of a behavior portrayed by myself and not him hahaha. Golf is SO not my game, man, although Haikal was not that bad with it. I guess I don’t really have the patience to play the game, and I too thought that an insect repellent coupled with air-conditioning would make things much, much better.
Sorry la, it being my second day of having the time of the month, and not getting a good start in the day made me quite cranky hehehe :P

Would I recommend you to go there? No. Hahaha. I think that it’s time the place gets shut down and renovated. But if you really have nothing to do, too much money to spend and have already done all the other things at Sentosa, go ahead but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Oh, and I STRONGLY encourage refrain from bringing children and senior citizens there.

And thus concluded our Sentosa tour. Although we had the chance to catch the Dolphin Show, and enough leftover cash to play the Luge, all the walking around had totally sapped the energy in us so let’s just leave that for another day.

Hmm, at this rate I think I shall get myself an Islander Card. I think Sentosa is an attractive place, but in the process of building all the new attractions, it’s sad that the older ones are totally neglected. I think, I prefer Sentosa in the past, where one can really get some peace and quiet at the beach, and the whole island is not so densely occupied with tourists who make a big ruckus and leave much mess behind :/

so kal got himself a Holga?
