Cheap thrills at the Science Centre.

Just this morning, my JJC kids and I finally met as a group and by finally, I really meant finally as the last time we met was during June last year. And even so, one of us, Radhiyah, couldn’t make it as she had to work a fifteen hour shift last night at the Woodlands Checkpoint. Bloody Mas Selamat!

I was so hell-bent on meeting them that since Dana was taking forever to plan, I took over the job and made sure everyone turned up :) I think that in friendships, one shouldn’t be too picky on who does all the planning and whatnot. I mean, if you really miss them, and it’s really been eons since everyone met up, why not just take little time and energy to organize something?
Although yes, cancellations do happen (even I sometimes cancel when I am the organizer haha), and it might seem that you’re the only who does all the backstage work, I believe it’s all just part of the process and hey, what’s a few hiccups here and there for something as priceless as friendships right?
What’s a little give and take when you only meet twice a year now, when years back you see each other everyday and shared lots of cyclical changes in your life with them?

Hmm.. Actually coming to think about it, I used to feel sore that I do the planning for most of my different groups of friends when we’re meeting up but when I recall back and reflect, chet, I think I was just being selfish.
I think, today, upon seeing everyone smiling and joking, reminiscing about our scandalous junior college years; all the truants, the sleeping in class (these are for Fara and I), all the silly squabbles over misunderstandings, all the retarded things we did (mostly Sangitah), I wouldn’t mind being asked to plan again when the time comes :)

I love my kids. I love, how after all the fights we went through, all the pranks, the tears and the vast difference in the paths we have taken now, we can still have breakfast meals at McDonalds talking nonsense and laugh till our sides hurt. I love that even though we’re twenty, we still acted like the juveniles we were back in school.

Like for example, mockingly screaming in the simulator ride ($4), getting bored in it pretty quick and camwhoring in the dark (free), looking through Egyptian exhibits (free), entering and messing around in gift stores with quirky items (free), shamelessly playing in a Lego corner for kids, asking the store owner if we could play with the Wii set and the plane simulator (free, free, free).
Who says we need to spend so much to have so much fun? Kekeke… Fara and Dana commented that it’s only when I do the planning that they end up doing all sorts of nonsensical kiddy things lol. Can’t say I can disagree…
I guess it takes me longer as compared to them to mature haha! Not sure if it’s a good or bad thing though. I mean, even Dana has grown long hair! Hmm… Maybe it is time I face the facts that I’m no longer a teen come August. I’m a full blown ADULT :(

So anyway, thanks kids for turning up! Dana, Fara and Sang, for freeing yourself from your your busy schedules, and specially Hazirah, who came down all the way from her university in KL. (Radhiyah, you were missed. Come down the next time round yeah?)
To sum it up, I had a really awesome time even though what I spent was the bare minimum and even though we only meet up twice a year haha :) I guess it’s true when they say it’s not the location or the activity, but the company!
Oh and one more thing. Science centre is so cheap now! Just doing a public service here:-
- Science Centre + Omnimax = $12.80
- Science Center + Snowcity = $15
- Stargazing on Friday nights = FREE! HAHA!
All prices quoted are for adults as I didn’t bother looking at the children prices since I no longer fit into that category :P Time to rediscover your childhood haven, people!
