During the past 20 years of my life, I recall myself, along with millions of others throughout the whole wide world, playing victim to several catchy meaningless songs up till feverish levels. To add salt to the wound, such songs were even tagged on with even sillier dance moves which everyone seemed to find cool!

At the peak of the trend, this lethal combination of song and dance when mastered would make even the dorkiest of dorks fit into society. No kidding, man. Remember the ever popular Las Ketchup song? Or how about the Macarena? Kekeke…

Quite recently, the boyfriend started singing this stupid little line and jiggling his ass to a repetition of tunes that I couldn’t take it anymore and finally succumbed to enquiring (which I did come to regret of course, because now I have to express interest in it all the time hehe :P).

Introducing,

Soulja Boy’s Crank That. Besides the fact that even after listening to it for the umpteenth time and STILL not being able to understand what he’s saying (besides “Soulja”, “Boy”, “Superman” and “Robocop”) and that I feel the lyrics and tune are just back to back repetitions, this song managed to hit #1 in the Billboard and became a number one hit in the US charts for seven consecutive weeks!

And to make it even more amusing, Soulja Boy was smart enough to ride on his fame (which I think will fade with the song) by introducing the above Dance Instructions. A search on Youtube would surface many other recordings of teens and kids alike executing the steps religiously and with pride. I on the other hand, seriously didn’t find it a nice dance at all haha. To each his own I guess.

Oh, did I mention this song is nominated for a GRAMMY? *Snorts* True, I have no qualifications in music and even am a tad tone deaf, but seriously, I think I know when a song is nice and when it is downright ridiculous -.-|||

*Puts on Bodybuilder suit and zebra underwear* You like it? (HAHA) What makes you think the song is such a hit and how long do you think it’ll last? I’m kind of sick of hearing everyone blasting the song on their handphones, pfft!
