Escaping to the Theme Park.

I think it was 2 weeks back when the family and I decided to finally use our free Escape Themepark tickets; right on the expiry date itself. It was a long awaited trip for us since for countless weeks, Mum and Dad have been working even on Sundays. I miss days as such. Sometime last year, there was a period of time where every Sunday, we’d head out somewhere to spend time together.
Needless to say, with everyone’s busy schedule, such carefree days are far and in between. Even though I’ve officially declared my Sundays to be ‘Family Day’ for this year, I have a foreboding feeling that most of those would be spent in front of the television as the parents are, you guessed it, working.

I can’t speak for the rest of the family, but in my opinion, that simple day at the VERY simple theme park was one of the happiest days I’ve spent with them in a long while. Everyone was in a deliriously good mood, laughters and smiles were aplenty amidst conversations and shouting during all the spinning and defying gravity moments.
I recall during the first ride we took (the one in the 2 small pictures above), I told my Mum that there was nothing to worry about. Thus, she hopped on all excited and stuff but the moment the ’saucer’ started gaining speed, all I could see was her shutting he eyes in concentration whilst whimpering (in Malay), “Faddy… You tricked me… You said it wasn’t scary at all la… Aaaahhh… You tricked me… You tricked me…” HAHA. That, was so cute.

As for the Theme Park itself, even though more rides were opened as compared to the time when I went there with Haikal, I felt that the choice of rides were rather limited. With so little rides available in the first place, it was pretty much a rip-off when one has to pay $16, what more when they closed a further 3-5 rides.
It was really, rather embarrassing when I saw this group of tourists riding the rides with a bored look on their face as if saying, “THIS is the only theme park Singapore has to offer?“. Man, hahaha… Ah wells, whatever it is, I can’t wait for the integrated resort over at Sentosa to open its doors. Like finally, something new and exciting!

So anyway, the worse part of the day was actually dinner at the food stalls near the lounge at Downtown East. Seeing the menu, we were all practically salivating but when the food finally arrived, the term ‘disappointment’ is really an understatement. Just… don’t… try… the… seafood. Pfft.

Nevertheless, I had a really gorgeous quality time with my family on that day and I look forward to the next :) After the years of bickering, shouting at each other, annoying one another and such, I think we’re all coming to that stage where we just want to be decent to each other and spend more quality time.
I’m just really glad the parents are starting to treat me more like an adult then an adolescent, that Fauzi and I are getting along really fine and dandy (he’s growing up to be quite a lad) and Farhan and I starting to get along. I just pray that it stays that way because really, the very idea of having such a dysfunctional family scares me silly.
