Saving Cents.

The other time whilst I was dining at Banquet, a restaurant chain if you’re not in the know, I got a rude shock when I found out that they were charging S$1.30 for a can of normal drink, like the one in the picture above. Yes, I know some of you might say that that said price is the normal price, so why the hell is this blogger shocked?
Well, thing is I thought the usual price of such drinks is only S$1.20 and yeah, I queued up for a good 10 minutes (breaking of fast time) with that exact amount in my hands. There, S$1.20, my entire life savings. With such hope and zest thinking of that sweet taste of green tea sliding down my parched throat, the disappointment I felt (not to mention the embarrassment) when I had no money to buy the drink was truly one of the lowest moments in my life.

Kidding. Nevertheless, I feel it is always good to cut costs, no matter how small as like the Malay proverb says, “Even a little amount when added up can become a mountain“.
Thus, Tip #1 on Saving Cents with Fingersdontfing.com:-
Always, always buy your drinks elsewhere and not at Banquet itself!
Case in point, is the Banquet at Jurong Point. Instead of spending S$1.30, take a short walk up the escalator and head to the Value$ shop. Inside, you’ll see perfectly good chilled cans of drinks at S$0.60, and bottles of drinks going at S$1.05!
That’s more then 50% cost savings there people! Now start spending smart :)
P/s. Hell yeah I’m like the world’s worst spendthrift with like S$10 left in my account but with my new found revelations and a new source of income, (not to forget, the ever nagging boyfriend) I hope to start saving up for my own education. S$60k for a private university degree is no joke, yo!
P/p/s. Anyone has any other money tips to share? Feel free! Maybe all of us can achieve perfect knowledge on prices one day hahaha!

I’ve got one.
Always bring along a water bottle if you have a soar throat and need plain water coz a 500ml bottle of mineral water costs $2.30 at 7 Eleven!
I know it’s crazy!
That’s the reason why i’m grateful for water coolers at school. But seriously. $2.30???? Gila man.
that $2.30 mineral water is actually a flavoured one, not a plain mineral water. And.. soar throat ke sore throat? (spot pulak.. keke)
Hhahaha buruk siak nuruL… though i think you’re right pasal the flavoured drink.
Hahha I used to bring a water bottle around all the time, tapi sometimes it’s so leceh! But i guess everything comes at a sacrifice ey? I remember everyone thinking I was crazy when I lugged around the huge 1.5l bottle during Hari Raya hahaha!
i shop at sheng siong + i bring my own bottle + i jog, i don’t take buses …
note: not a good pickup line if you wanna pickup someone
Ooh! The new sheng shiong behind Shell is it? I have not been there yet! Anyway, I walk alot these days, thanks to Haikal.
save whatever $1 coins that you have. it works (:
relink ok.
mysweatypalms.blogspot.com
and 50-cents coins too! I second that it really works!
Yes, sir! Affirmative!
Ok I shall give that a shot! I do remember my aunt, she had this big coke bottle full of $1 and 50 cents coins, when we totalled it up, it added to $500! $500!!!! Will relink :)
it took me only one and a half weeks and i’ve saved $80 worth of $1 coins.
go faddy go go go!
Cool or what! thats alot man. next time i see you, ingat2 lah minah broke ni eh :P
Salaams!
Ive been tryin to save money…Operative word here is trying and its true that even a few cents do count..So spending smart is always good and that is the reason why I have a Banquet discount card..Heh!
Hahahah the banquet discount card kadang2 I feel macam useless! Boleh save only like 20cents and in the first place you already spend on buying the card. So you have to go to their shop countless times before you even set it off -.- But yeah, betol you cakap, even a few cents count.
cut your own hair and pack a home-cooked lunch to work
Cut your own hair? My hairdresser mengamok with me that time when I did that cuz she said I thoroughly ruined it hahaha! Home cooked lunch memang I practice quite a lot :)
at yishun interchange, its selling for a dollar… lagi mahal seh tu 1.20..
Economics! I will touch on that some time maybe hehe.
Wahahaha. Value$ is one of my fave shops to buy drinks.
Ice Mountain only 60cents. Best seh. Lol
So cheap kaaaaaan. Like super syiok man, the fact that you can buy TWO of those compared to elsewhere (read:7-11)
I don’t know much about saving money but I DO know that making my atok happy earns me moolah!
:D
But yeah, I bring my own drink whenever I remember and I take the bus wherever possible to make full use of my concession pass.
*slaps forehead* ni tolong atok ikhlas ke, nak duit? kekeke… And bloody hell, I miss concession rates! Travelling on public as an adult sucks big time.
bring ur own water bottle with plain water…
save LOTS!!! :)
Seems like a popular suggestion. Will do Yahoo!
Or faddy you could come by my house.. i sell you mineral water very very cheap! Will waive the service charge.. JUST FOR YOU! ;)
Nak pergi rumah kau pat aussie je, aku dah jadi papa kedana hahahaha!
