The Makan Kakis go to JB!

It started as early as 1030am in the morning, with the thunderstorm which bellowed across town finally halting to a drizzle, spilling warm sunshine on the streets. I remember as I was walking with Nassy to our meet up point at Kranji MRT, Shaz and Hana called out and practically bounced towards us. And at THAT moment, I knew the entire day was going to really be a ball of fun, which it was :D

Now now, before I continue, just know this entry has, get this, around 50 photos. HAHAHAHA *slaps forehead* Don’t ask me how one day of just EATING can lead to the birth of that many photos, ask Nassy. I practically gave her the camera that day as I couldn’t be bothered kekeke. And with that, we begin!

After the 2 other vehicles containing the rest of the Makan Kakis finally emerged, Shaz gave everyone the directions and vroom across the Causeway we went. I was really, really excited as it was my first time going Johore Bahru with this many ‘friends’, kekeke. Truth be told I’m still pleasantly surprised the mother allowed for such a trip :)

The restaurant we were heading to was but a mere 5-10 minutes drive from Johor’s check point and the directions were SO easy that even I, the bimbo who cannot remember directions, can drive there myself in the future. As you can see above, it was only minutes since we have met, but we already clicked. Weeweeet!

The food was good, but the company made it even better. Over humongo jumbo servings of tex-american food (of which I ate some good salmon and shrimps), the table was littered with conversations and laughter. Again, I found myself in a situation where I (and Nassy) were the youngest in a group of ‘online’ friends haha.

Earlier on in the day, we plotted to ’sabo’ Fai and make him the birthday boy (even though his birthday is in December hahaha). So when Fai emerged from the gents, Aidil called on the waiters of TGIF to start their ‘birthday routine’. As I took my camera out eagerly, wanting to catch the hilarity which would ensue, suddenly I was whisked out and onto the chair – yes, I was double crossed. haha.

And so, Fai and I (aka Faiddy) were made to belt out a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, with Fai being on the makeshift microphone and myself being the subtitles for the day hahhaha. It was really, really hilarious. Too bad no one captured it on video, man. I would have loved to see me making a fool out of myself kekeke.

Thus, after lapping down the two free slices of CHOCGASMIC cakes as well as the to die for brownies, mudpies and whatnot (really, the dessert was WOW), we thanked the waiters of TGIF for the good service and food and went out for a round of camwhoring kekeke.

Next on the agenda – a trip to Danga Bay to just take some pictures and have a small ‘tea’ session at Rose Garden. The weather was piping hot, but somehow the clouds ahead were so black and angsty. Weird, I know.

Ok pictures ahead, I’m not in much mood to write haha.

Did you know that Danga bay had an area full of replicas of Kampung Houses? Heh, I didn’t know too. It’s very pretty, but they didn’t really decorate the insides so there’s not much stuff to look around and see. Oh well~ In any case we had a good time just fooling around and jumping about hahaha.

The heat got to us and moments after the above jump shot, all of us scurried to air conditioned premises and headed to Rose Garden for a short ‘tea’ session. Heh, at this moment, everyone was pretty much sapped. After clearing the unique drinks on the table, like the Lime ala Tequila, Rose Tea and the 7-up with blueberry jam, we called it a day and headed back home sweet home.

It was a great, eventful day spent with such gorgeous people. I’m glad I finally joined the Makan Kakis in their quest for good food as the people in there were just really, really fun to be with. People like Shaz and Aidil, Hana, Eja and Fai, Siti, Raf and hubby, Shidah, her hubby and two god-sisters, Lydia and not to forget, Nassy :)

Thanks Shaz and Aidil for organizing the trip. You guys make great hosts and I am already having itchy legs (and mouth) waiting for the next Makan Kaki Trip to Batam! Weeee~ (ehem, Kimmy and boyfie might be joining, by the way.)

… All this talk about food and I’m fasting today. HAHA. Excuse me whilst I go catch 40 winks.
