Getting Clothes For Raya!
A part of the family tradition every time Hari Raya Aidilfitri draws near is to head over to Johore Baru twice - once to visit Lagenda (a boutique at Angsana Shopping Mall) to choose our cloths and the design for the Raya outfit and the second time, to get the sewn outfits - all blinged and oozing of that “new” fragrance.
Together with Mum, besty couzy Anz and her mom (Bibik), we crossed the causeway taking a bus and finally ended up at Imano’s, the cafe at Angsana which has become our resident hangout every time we headed over.
I was quite disappointed as the grilled Salmon didn’t taste a bit like the first time I tasted it - it SO didn’t melt in my mouth! And to add on to that, they swapped the whipped potato to fried potatos (no, I don’t mean French Fries). Oh well, at least the Ice Blended Mocha was still slurpilicious in my opinion.
*Ehem* Better not complain la hor since it’s FREE. Thanks Mum and Bibik! Anywhoos, guess who we saw singing at the stage downstairs?
The Malaysian singer/actress/model, Erra Fazira! Heh, granted I don’t even really like her, but since everyone was taking photos I just felt compelled to do so! They said she looked horrible in real life but I can safely say that’s a lie as I thought she did look pretty.
As for her singing, I have to say it was average lah, nothing too great :) Siti Nurhaliza is waaaay better! But I guess you can’t compare them both ey? Siti’s like THE voice of Asia after all.
Back to the day~
One of the main reason as to why I LOVE going to Lagenda to get my outfit done, is that the place is SO beautifully done up! They have gold drapes, antique chairs, chandeliers which sparkle under the spotlights, tastefully done up mannequins, life sized cages, plenty of bling-blings… ok I should stop. It really is a feast for the eyes!
Sadly though, they’ve employed a few new staff who kept throwing stares at me whenever I tried to take a picture. The regular staff there who recognized us didn’t mind, but the new ones…
Let’s just say I felt like throwing my camera (okay, maybe not my camera but something equally heavy) in her face. Buh, so stuck up! Oh well, I guess it IS after all her job to stop patrons from taking pictures in the shop but hey, if the boss and the ‘manager’ doesn’t even mind, why should you?
Meh, I’m just irritated I didn’t manage to be all snap happy. Don’t mind me whilst I become a spoilt brat for a while and sulk the night away :/
Oh yeah, as for the clothes we ordered, I got a heart attack upon knowing that 2 pairs of outfits (one for my mom and one for myself) cost RM$1080. *HEART ATTACK* Imagine the other items I could have bought… camera lens, 10 tops and oh my God, the number of times I could have taken the MRT! HAHAHA. (Damnit, transport costs are killing me softly).
After poking through different shops, the mothers deposited us kids by the roadside (kesian~) while they shopped for ‘home stuff’. Meh, out of boredom the cousin and I sat on the curb, camwhored and just watched the traffic go by.
Ok, I can’t think of a way to conclude this post. Bye kids! Wakakakaka~
1st!!! hahahah… nyway, i only go JB to shop for raya clothes, when its fasting mth!!! wahahahhaha.. its more like, very the meriah… hey, the fasting mth still long long ago lah…. ;)
hahahhaha wah happy dia jadi first wakakakka. pee jeee Eddy! anyway, if i do at that lagenda shop during fasting month, CONFIRM takkan ready by hari raya. they have alot of tempahan lah! buh!

As for baju raya, that Lagenda shop mesti tempah siang2 or they wont take the order anymore cuz got influx during raya time. Sooo, yah. have to. As for baju raya, KARER PINK! ME, PINK!wakakkakkaka :P
Wahhh! That boutique I stakat pass by kat sana…tak berani nak masuk. Confirm mahal! Haha! And gosh…it is expensive eh..but the kain very beautiful! At least kan, u shop for it now..jadi tak kelam kabut. My family lagi teruk. Few mths back dah buat. Haha! And I takut tak muat je bila time nak pakai. LOL!
I’ve yet to try Imano. Everytime pergi sana, mesti lupa nak drop by. LOL! And I love the ending. Cute and sweet…hehe! ;)
:P If I didnt go with my parents also i takkan berani masuk. u know the bajus they put on the mannequin, cost like RM$800 and above lah! siao!!! ok, your family dah buat a few mths back? haha! thats like… after last year hari raya isit? hehehehe…
yah you should try imano. not bad la, and the ambience rather cosy :) They have a RM$9.90 meal also, which comes with pasta, mushroom soup and ice tea!
Untung mannequin tu eh…dapat pakai baju mahal-mahal.. Jeles I.. Hehe! Apa lagi Faddy..?? U jadi mannequin pulak ar.. U pose depan kedai then I use ur cammie and I take pics of u. LOL! Tu baru Lagenda!! Haha!

I remember those days my relatives and I would drive up to Angsana too… This year, no baju for me. Total waste of money lah… wear only once, twice a year and they end up in the wardrobe forever. Plus, Raya is getting old to me… I prefer just wearing T-shirt and jeans while hosting - lagi comfy!!! Of course visitors always ask why I’m not dressed. Tak kuasa. Nak masak, nak host, nak run here and there dengan baju, adui… so not practical. *hahaha* Trying to conserve and save up for better things too. But you’re still young, so enjoy your Raya, ok :)
I’ve met Erra in person eons ago when we did a concert together. She was ok lah… quiet and not friendly yet not stuck-up - maybe low-profiling? My mom liked her in person tho.

With regards to the baju kurung, actually i only wear twice a year also hehehhee.. bila hosting im usually forced to wear baju kurung or CONFIRM mak bising haha! she says its very unsightly orang datang den kita pakai tshirt and heans heh.

Yea, that’s right. The older u get, the more babies there are in the fam circle, the more green packets to give out and the longer it takes for Raya to end. Reality bites!! Esp for me, I am single, no kids, but all my cousins are producing like rabbits. *LOL* For a couple of years I got to escape Raya - it felt good!! I hope this year I get to do that again esp coz 1st day and 1st weekend, everyone flocks to my place - my mom’s the eldest and so I’d like to take a break from hosting. I never get the chance to go out on first week of Raya. Sometimes 2 weeks. Very the sad u know! :D Sorry if I’m sounding all negative - I’m just not into all these hoo-hah tradition thing lah… I’m more into simplistic things, celebrate for a few hours is enuf for me, no need till all 4 weeks. Penat u know, esp for those who have to host all the time. :)
Oh, she wasn’t that friendly to me. Just salam je. But she talked to my mom. I’m not a big fan of her anyway. I met other celebs who were waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy nicer, was very sweet and not stuck up at all, like Aishah. :) Still love that woman’s vocals + personality till today :)

For my family, my dad’s the eldest but alhamdulillah, my paternal grandparents both are still alive and kickin’, so we gather at their home instead. My mom’s the youngest on her side, so no worry there. The only hosting I need to do is like in the third week or so, where my mom throws an open house and everyone comes together at one shot. Naik maut! kekeke.. Ehem, i don’t get angpow much either :’(
As for Erra, kwang3. Oh well, she *did* look like she had some airs around her, but until i’ve experienced her kerekness or her friendliness then I’d make my call. Aishah… Aishah mana eh? Isit the one yg nyanyi lagu raya yang very the sedih? HEHEHEHE.
