Sheeshaing With Mats.

Ever since our last cycling trip, my bestmatfriend Fitree, his bestfriend, Haikal and I have been meaning to meet up again and today finally the planning fell through. It was almost cancelled as Haikal had to go to Johore with his mum, but in the nick of time he managed to return and we met up late evening after my work :)

Initially, I have to admit I didn’t really quite agree on meeting up ANYONE these past few days as I can safely say I’m encountering an almost deficit financial situation as my much needed cheque from my last job still isn’t banked in yet. I can really, really feel the pinch :(
However, Fit2 and Kal managed to change my mind when they said, and I quote, “Meet us for dinner lah! We’ll pay for you k, we’re gentlemen.“. HAHA! Free food lei, who doesn’t want? Kwang Kwang kwang~
I always feel lucky in the sense that somehow when I’m dead broke, suddenly the handful of people who bring me out usually offers to pay! Hehe… I sure have alot of treating to do when my pay finally comes. Thanks ya guys!

After a scrumptious dinner of Seafood Fried Rice, of which I managed to wipe the whole plate clean at the point where the boys only finished half of theirs, we proceeded to walk around just randomly talking and soaking in the sights and smells.
I just realized that the clutter of roads at Arab Street actually hold host to many KTVs hor? Hahaha. I know, call me slow. When we were walking around, it was one KTV after another, bar after bar; I have to admit I was mildly surprised by the number of cheekopeks around. Wakakaka. So sleazy!

We finally settled along one of the roads, collapsing our tired bums on a dust ridden, charcoal burnt carpet full of greying cushions, flattened due to time spending underneath OTHER tired bums wahahaha. How cosy!
But on a serious note, even though the condition of said location was rather… questionable, we felt really comfortable and proceeded to laze around. From this point of view, I conclude that I will be ok if I were to be homeless some day wakakakakaka!
Oh, and try Ice Mint Tea! It’s like drinking chewing gum. And no, please don’t listen to your friends and munch on the leaves in the tea like our Kal2 did… unless of course, you want to create an expression worth remembering for centuries to come :P
(And I think I finally managed to find out how to take better pictures at dimly lit areas. For those wondering, my pictures in such conditions would usually depict a brightly lit foreground with a pitch black background when the flash is in place.
But using manual mode and increasing the ISO and the aperture and decreasing the shutter speed combined with flash will make both the fore and background lit! Hooray! Now to solve the problem of grainy pictures resulting from high ISO hahaha. LTS, try it!
If you must know, the location of the place where we sprawled to have our Sheesha was SO dark that even reading the menu was a rather heavy task!)

With background music playing in the background; an ensemble of the Muse songs from my mp3 player together with chatters and laughters from other patrons and the occasional vehicle drive by, the three of us laughed over silly things and mused over heavy topics.
I recall that in the past, I used to ‘wish’ that I could have a group of friends who are something like what Fit and Kal are, and on that day, whilst we were stoning out in the midst of fragrant smoke, I realized that that wish had come true :)

In Fit2 I have found a confidante, some sort of a ‘brotherly’ connection, even with us knowing each other for barely 6 months and him coming from the group coined as ‘blogger friends’. I found myself being able to turn to him in times of despair and likewise.
And here I would like to thank Sandy, his girlfriend, for being such an angel! I know a couple of other girls who would probably flip and not allow Fit2 to befriend me had they been in Sandy’s shoes hahaha.

As for Kal2, it has been barely a month since we were introduced to each other and I like him more the more we spend time together hahaha. A hyperactive guy who loved to crack silly jokes and laugh at MY expense (bloody hell), but at the end of the day he seems to have a genuine character, always minding my feelings. Here’s to a longer journey, God Willing :)

By around 1030pm, we grudgingly upped and left (Faddy’s curfew, and Sheesha was all burnt out) and proceeded home sweet home. Weirdly though I only reached home at midnight! Bloody hell, 90 minutes from Bugis to home? Jialat! Luckily the parents were in a good mood hahaha.
Anyway tentatively our next ‘date’ would be on 1st July – the postponed cycling trip from East Coast Park to Bugis and back. Woohoooo dear God please don’t let it be canceled and most importantly, please give me the stamina hahaha!

okay!!! do tell me how you take those GORGEOUS shots during the night!!! i’ve bought my Canon power shot A640….
i used manual mode constantly….
usually, for night scene, i used ISO 800 or if i have a steady hand 400…
but what about the TV and the AV featured???
i tried using TV – 0″3 and AV F5.0… trying very hard to use other effect… without flash… but the effect not that GOOD…
SPILL YOUR SECRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woah a640 sehh! The screen very the big kan? Super puas to see your photos. Mine the lcd screen damn kecik, have to strain!
I always trial and error ah Eddy! Nehmind2, we learn from each other later!
you know wat? i don care lah!!! i’m dating you… wahahhahahaha… LIKE for a DINNER date!!!! then you can show me during those night modes… i so wanted to capture the night scenes dekat esplanade… me blanja!!! but you must teach me how to take those nite modes!!!! HOW???? can or not???? heheehe
heheheh eddy eddy…. gila lah kau! u buy the canon powershot tak kan tak da manual… hahah. malas nak check kan..
actually, there’s a mini book.. but they dont tell you exactly… for night shots, they asked user to use night mode… but i dont like using night mode… manual function is the best, because it capture the essence of the shots portray… but i can never get it right…
Actually, Eddy, i also never read the manual one WAKAKAKKA. dont like ah!
YAY DINNER LATER TONIGHT! mweh mweh mweeehhh!! See you at SIX at bugis, don’t forget! :D
hey dear.. gald u finally figure out how to shoot in dim-lit places.. about the grainy thingy all due to high ISO, it’s unavoidable.. High ISO, too much noise in the picture they say.. anyway, how high is ur ISO.. my highest ISO is 1600.. gambars grainy giler..
Haha yeah i read in an online forum also pasal how high ISO = grain. My highest ISO is only 800 lah, lowest 80. SOmetimes I wish I can get my ISO to go lower, sebab night shots when I use very slow shutter speed (to catch trail lights), can get too high an exposure! DONCH LIKE!
nice pics faddy. :)
its its night/no sun/less light, you should try shooting with a slower shutter. If manual fails you, try the TV mode. Its the Speed Priority mode. meaning you can adjust speed to slow…but aperture will still be cun/nice. and oh yeah, kalau speed slow bawa tripod la ye. Sebut sebut selalu!
and oh, sheesha is not good tau. i stopped after reading an article in the papers that say sheesha is much much more worse then smoking a stick of ciggs.
hahha yeah i read that article and also heard about it a million times from my mom. But i guess i just do it once in half a year kinda thing? kekeke.. :P thanks though for the advice!
Thank You Mr Malique! Yup I tried doing slow shutter, but that one ah, the subject really need to freeze haha kalau tak very blur! I’ve yet to use TV mode, maybe shall try it out later tonight!
FADDY!!
Are those HEELS i see??
I’m so PROUD of U!!
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha! WALAO honeyza, i now everyday wear heels ok! work mah?!

hahah thanks babe! As for learning it, go sign up for classes or something cuz this one i dont know how to do wahahaahh! :P
Muse is aweeesome!
By the way, you said you were gonna write a review about your new mp3 player.
Hope to read it soon (:
Hello far :) Welcome to my humble abode!
Yeah muse rockssss. Bloody kal2 managed to get to the muse concert for FREE *slaps forehead*.
Anyway you’re not gonna read much, more of watch and listen cuz im doing a video review ahhaha!
Yes yes i did hear the same thing as Malique, that sheesha is worse off than smoking itself. Goodness, how can that be! Hahaha.
I personally have never tried Sheesha-ing, though I have been to such joints alot of times before, oh well, and now ed doesn’t really like the idea of me picking it up, so let’s just leave it at that. Hahaha.
See la despite him being arab himself, he is against alot of these arab habits. Hahaha.
Oh and as usual, very nice pics faddy!
YAH HOW CAN IT BE KAN?! hahahaha i’m living in denial here. Anyway you dont miss out on a lot, I guess. It’s just something people do when they are so damn bored already kwang3. Good that Ed stops you from doing so, it could become a bad habit ey. And thanks for the compliments Ms Drubs!
like eddyboi, i also wanna book u for a photohunt can???????? =)))))))
yes esp for night photography!
and just so u know, we are ANTI-FLASH. we detest using flash and all pics taken with flash.

“photography is all about painting with light”
hahhahaha. Senyum takde lebar lagi? keke… Anyway, is it too late if we set TGIF on 21/22 July? Haha.. I’m going on holidays the weekends before that. If it’s too late, you and hana can go ahead first, i’m very sure we’ll have more opportunities in the future!
Hahhaa OH NO YOU DETEST ALL MY ABOVE PICS kwang3. no lah, i also dont really like to use flash, there’s something fake in it. But I think at times, if you combine the right aperture, iso and shutter speed, flash really helps to fill out the ‘darker’ areas.
love the quote!
i think i’m a tee-bit late to post a comment on this entry ey..hehe
but anyways, that’s around Kaki5 is it? best kan????
maybe you could try Ambroisa (or something like that) too! but the price is a little too over-the top. tho the ambience is good! it’s above Kampong Glam cafe if i’m not mistaken.
haha its never too late diah! I welcome ALL comments at any point of time on any entry hahaha.
That place is called Al-tazzaq… and i have NO idea where kaki5 is wakakakka. as for ambrosia, i ate there before twice a few months back. Unfortunately, am not liking the sheesha, the service and the presentation of the food haha. Food was ok lah, nice but pricey, and the ambience is pretty too. But other then that, i don’t think i like the place hehehe. thanks though! :D
hey fad!
L-O-V-E YOUR PICTURES.
sucha gorgeous and fantabulous shots you have here! GREAT JOB.
its just so clear, with the right modes and all. and nice editting too!
btw, what camera model did you use aye?
eversince my camera fall from a table together with the short tripod stand, my night picture did not turn out well. the camera’s not damaged but the pictures at night were very grainy which makes it difficult to edit thru PS. every edit goes so wrong! aargh! upset!
anyway, do take cr and have a great weekend babe! =)
alamak slow nye faddy reply! hehe teroverlook. sorry aidah!
Anyway thanks for the compliments, i’m always trying to improve myself, hopefully get better :) as they say, practice makes perfect! I use Canon Powershot S3is!
As for your camera, ehem, jual pat cash converter beli baru sudah babe! hehehe… GSS!! make the most out of it :P
