Trip to Batam.

On my last day of freedom before I would be chained to a desk in an office for the next 3 months, the mum asked me along for a trip with the aunts to Batam. It was an offer I couldn’t resist! Afterall, the last time I actually headed there was years back when I was in lower secondary and I was craving to munch on Telur Penyu hoho!

Truth be told, upon reaching the ferry terminal, I’d have to say I was really impressed. Much has changed over the years man. I recall the old version being very dilapitated but now, they even have a small DFS Galleria in it horkay! hahaha.

The journey on the ferry was a rather pleasant one. Being irritated by the guy next to me who kept snoring like nobody’s business, I emerged out of the indoor seating and faced a gorgeous view of the ocean :) Beatiful start to the day!
Oh and just for your information, return tickets cost S$33 (including tax). I however am not so sure if that’s a levelled pricing on all the ferries. Mine was the “Penguin”. The ride will last around 40-50 minutes.

Upon meeting with the driver and guide for the day, the first place we headed to was a shop selling curtains -.-||| Actually that was the mum’s intention of going there in the first place – curtains for Hari Raya. Wahahaha is it like so early or what?!

What I didn’t see coming, however, was that they would actually spend 2 hours – TWO HOURS – buying curtains and bedsheets haha. I almost died, I tell you! Luckily my trusty Canon kept me busy snapping away and the aunts actually were a ball listening to. The way they bargained, I think if I was the shopkeeper, I’d take a photo of them and alert the staff to ban these people from entering the next time wakakakaka!

And I finally get to take my money shot! I’ve been meaning to get a picture of myself lying in a wad of cash, but it was either noone wanted to help me, or I forgot. Pfft! Well, this will have to do I guess haha :)

By around 1pm we finally left the curtain place, much to the relief of the owners I guess, and since none of us had had a proper breakfast, the guide suggested we chomp on Seafood by the beach :) Seafood! Finally!

The food was SERIOUSLY top notched! Well, at least from all the seafood I tasted lah (which is not much hehe). We had a lobster, crabs and fish amongst other dishes (6 dishes in total) and when the bill came, it was less then S$20 per person (7 people)! This includes drinks, yo!
And the service was good too! When we came, there were not many customers since it was only noon and thus the food was served in less then 15 minutes. However, the guide says the restaurant is packed during dinnertime so expect a wee bit slower service.
My only grievance is that the ‘beachside’ restaurant is no longer beside the beach. Due to reclamation, we were greeted instead by a mini man made lake. Felt a bit cheated but seriously, the food more then makes up for it ahaha. Oh and just to add on, during dinner time, they even allow karaoke :)

The rest of the afternoon was spent in shopping malls. Initially I was soooo bloody excited for that part of the day but upon seeing the items on display, my excitement level fell to zero and I even managed to catch a nap as the mothers haggled over prices.
Wah piang! It was like a substandard version of Bugis Village, selling mostly fake goods like LV and Burberry bags and even the bookstore carried books ONLY in Bahasa Indonesia. So sad :( And to think I was looking forward to making mom buy me clothes since she threw all of mine away.

However, the last stop of the day pretty much salvaged the situation as for the first time in my life, I tried reflexology! Hahaha. Initially I was apprehensive as I am EXTREMELY ticklish and the past few times any of my aunts/friends wanted to practice on me, I would laugh my head off and kick them into abyss.
This time however, I only felt at ease (and the usual pain lah when the masseuese press on certain areas) throughout the 1 hr session which cost RP$80 000 (excluding a RP$10 000 tip we gave to each masseuse).

The whole room was roaring with laughter as the aunts cracked jokes and chit chatted with the masseuse. As for myself, I alternated between laughing, squirming in pain, and wishing that the cute masseuse was massaging ME and not my aunt wahaahahaha!

All in all, I had a great time and EVERYTHING was sponsored by my mom :) So thanks Mum, I had a great time and I hope this is a sign you have forgiven me for my mistake weeee! Have a good weekend guys! I’m mugging this Sunday hur hur hur.
Oh… and due to time constraints I didn’t get my Telur Penyu nor my donuts. Pfft.
