Redang bbq-ed me.

Guess who’s b(l)ack? Wakakaka. I touched down at around 11pm last night, my sore ass flopping on the computer seat for an hour of internet goodness before I scrambled back to bed to finally get some proper sleep.Tossing and turning on the badass coach seat for 13 hours is no sleep mind you.

My bum hurts and I’m kinda still feeling dizzy from all the bumps and stuff. Uweeek. Anyway I’m like so chaotar-ed now it’s no joke! I freaked myself out when I stood in front of the mirror, and it hurts when I touch the peeled parts of my body. This is what spending half the day for 3 days swimming at the sea does to you :( Oh wells.

Ok lah, enough rambling. Photorgasmic entry coming right up! Its so super duper full of pics, so yeah, I suggest you wait for everything (around 120 of them wakakka) to load first.

06309.jpg

The whole family (all 25 of us) were supposed to meet at the old Boon Lay Market at 9pm to get on board our coach. When we first saw this double decker supercool bus waiting by the roadside, all of us were like so hyped that we’re taking that bus. Sexciting you know!

And then suddenly the bus drove off -.- Wahpiang, super heart pain. We then started praying and praying that the other bus waiting, this super chaotar falling to pieces bus, was not waiting for us hahaha. Super unglam lah!

06310.jpg

Thank God our prayers were answered! Haha! We were ushered to another area where there’s a better, bigger coach waiting for us. A 26 seater, which officially makes everyone on board our family members hahaha.

The seats were comfy and spacious, and everything was in working condition. True, we did spot one or two (small) cockroaches but I think that’s a given for every bus right? The bus driver sucked though. So unfriendly, bluergh.

Oh yeah, so at 10pm, our 13 hour bus journey begin. Can die.

06311.jpg 06312.jpg
06313.jpg 06314.jpg
06315.jpg 06316.jpg
06320.jpg 06319.jpg
06318.jpg 06317.jpg

After enduring countless petrol station toilets, foodstops full of flies and whatnot, cramped asses and screaming toddlers, we finally managed to reach the jetty. Wah piang, I really think my bus driver sucks. Apparently, we could reach way earlier, but the bugger took alot of twist and turns so as to avoid the tolls. Bugger right? Urgh!

But nevertheless even with all the torture my bum faced, I quite enjoyed the ride. The beautiful breathtaking sceneries (no I’m not talking about the toilets, mind you. Although they did take my breath away literally) during sunrise, the old kampungs kampungs, the excited-ness the kids had when they saw cows, goats etc. Haha, very cute. Oh! And who can forget the gargantuan amount of keropoks? Hahaha.

06326.jpg 06321.jpg
06323.jpg 06324.jpg
06322.jpg 06327.jpg
06325.jpg 06328.jpg

I was quite amazed by the rather shabby jetty when I first set my eyes on it. I really expected you know, a real jetty jetty, but it was more like a hut build next to the river where the boats can stop hahaha. But it served its purpose and was clean, so I’m happy.

Since the ferry-ride was postponed by an hour, we went around the whole area checking out the stalls (where everything on sale was the same at every stall), playing poker cards and blowing bubbles. After 45 minutes of hyped up action and more keropoks, the ferry finally arrived.

06329.jpg

After seating in the ferry for 10 minutes or so, I fell asleep only to be awaken by chaos as one by one some of the cousins and aunts started puking hahaha. For me, I can bear the sea motions, but whenever I smell or even see someone vomit, I myself would feel the urge to do so. Haha dont ask why, I too do not know.

06330.jpg

Which was why I quietly sneaked to the abang ferry and mentioned that I needed some air. Hoho, he ushered me to the top cabin (only me lehhhh hahahhaa) where I was instantly blasted by the cooling sea breeze and the wonderful scenery. Definitely beats the dank cabin I was in, I tell you.

06331.jpg 06332.jpg
06333.jpg 06334.jpg

Didnt manage to capture much shots as the ferry was swerving around like nobody’s business and there was no seats at the open air area I was standing at. I swear if I had so much let go of my vice grip on the railings, I would be a goner already haha.

Had small conversations with the guy who allowed me access to the area, and mostly just admired the different shades of blue of the ocean, turning on my emo mode as the breeze fell gently on my skin and the sun started its work in bbq-ing me.

06335.jpg

My father’s expression pretty much covered how most of my relatives felt as they stumbled out of the ferry 50 minutes later. Wakakaka. I however, since I wasn’t stuck in the crummy cabin, happily hopped around waiting for our tram to pick us up. We’re finally at Pulau Redang! Yay! After 15 hours! Yay!

06336.jpg

06340.jpg

06339.jpg

06338.jpg

06337.jpg

Subhanallah, as the tram we’re on approached the resort, the effect was rather overwhelming I tell ya. Hearing and feeling the bellowing of the breeze, the crashes of the waves as they hit the white sandy shore, the laughing of children running amok to their hearts’ delights – it was heavenly to say the least.

I’ve been craving to set foot back in Redang and I definitely wasn’t let down to say the least. The pictures really, really don’t do any justice. You gotta be there to experience it babe :)

06341.jpg

After the adults settled the registration and check in etc, we left our luggage at the foyer and proceeded to the second floor of the lobby to have our lunch. The calling of our tummies at that point of time was definitely greater then the call of the sea wakakak. Hungry you know since we’ve yet to have a proper breakfast!

The thingy that my family signed up for was a 4 days 3 night package, and thus for the next few days all our breakfast/lunch/dinner had designated timings and is a buffet-style kind of eating. The food was ok, but i have to say their fish dishes were the best! Super fresh! And it’s like everytime they refill the dish, everything would be gone in 5 minutes! hhahaa. Syiok!

06344.jpg 06345.jpg
06343.jpg 06342.jpg

And then it was time to check out our rooms! I was surprised to see that there were 4 beds in each room, definitely a welcomed change from the 2 beds in most hotels. This means I don’t have to sleep on the floor yahoo! My family in total took up 6 rooms, the whole bottom floor of our building, which faced the pool. Syiok! Like our own kampung like that hahaha.

06346.jpg 06349.jpg
06350.jpg 06351.jpg
06347.jpg 06348.jpg

Within minutes, we tore off our clothes and jumped into the cool water of the pool. C’mon lah, after the long journey, and the filled stomachs, the pool was practically screaming our names even though it was like 2 in the afternoon. Haha, and I wonder how come I’m so chaotar-ed :P

We visited the beach too after frolicking in the pool, but sadly I have no pictures as we didn’t have anyone to look over our stuffs and I’d just die if my cam was swiped on the first day hoho… Thus, at around 6pm, we all retreated back to our rooms to rest and await dinner time.

06354.jpg 06353.jpg

06352.jpg

06355.jpg 06356.jpg

Oh! And how can I not mention the cute visitor we had? I was lazing on my bed when I heard squeals from the rooms next door. I popped my head at the balcony, and saw what had made them giggle and squeal in delight. Cute hor the squirrel? Haha, we spent 30 minutes running from room to room as the squirrel hopped from one balcony ledge to another.

Yes, I know very immature of me but it can’t be helped. The kids are infectious! Wakakaka.

06357.jpg

After dinner, Wani, Hafiz, my brother and I sneaked away from the parents and the toddlers and with the money I had, we entered the restaurant downstairs to have our dessert. Hoho, banana split, chocolate mousse and Keropok Lekor coming right up!

It was hilarious when we ordered mineral water, and the waiter served us the water from the big 1.5l water bottle! Like what the hell~ Hahha… I mean, when we usually dine at restaurants, they would serve us from nice jugs right? Haha oh wells. They did leave the remnants of the water in the bottle with us, so that saves some money :)

06358.jpg

On the second day, we had to wake up rather early as we had a snorkeling trip due at 10am. My initial plan was to wake up at 630am, go for a jog and catch the sunrise but plans remain as plans as I found myself waking up only at 7am and was too damn shagged to even get out of my room. Haha, blame the swimming!

06359.jpg 06360.jpg
06361.jpg 06362.jpg
06366.jpg 06365.jpg
06364.jpg 06363.jpg

If only every breakfast I have would be like the one I had, I tell ya. It was so appetizing and the view was just woah. Prata, pancakes, Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, omelet, Paus, everything haha. I was so damn full by the time we were done! And this is the part where I whine that I’m getting fatter :)

06367.jpg

At 10am we hopped aboard the speedboat and chugged our way to Marine Park. Unfortunately, not many pics again as I left my camera at the safebox. Haha, I’d rather be the one in pictures and not taking it at that point of time, thank you :D

06368.jpg

So clear hor! There were like a million fishies swimming everywhere and I saw nemos! So cute! Haha, it was a very thrilling experience for myself, seeing that for the first time I’m swimming without my feet touching the seabed! Wkakaka, life jacket la babe. And it was so sexciting when the fishies came close when I held bread pieces. Kekeke, jakon!

I swam from like one end to the jetty etc. Was hoping to catch the bigass fish which my uncle saw but once I reached the jetty it was gone boohoohoo. Oh wells. At least I saw many others, unlike my mom who saw only 3 as she refused to swim further out wakakaka. Cute.

06371.jpg 06372.jpg
06370.jpg 06369.jpg
06373.jpg 06374.jpg
06375.jpg 06376.jpg
06379.jpg 06380.jpg
06381.jpg 06382.jpg
06378.jpg 06377.jpg

Later on in the late afternoon after everyone has rested fully, we met up again to explore some parts of the island, or more specifically, the resorts around our area. Everything is sort of connected by the same beach, so it’s easy to manouver around.

I found myself thanking God over and over again that my aunt booked Laguna Redang instead of the other resorts. They’re so run down! Haha, I think its more of those who backpack etc. I’m more of a resort-y traveller lah :P

But it’s kinda more fun at the other resorts, with the greater variety of orang pulaus. The guys with dreadlocks, angmohs with tattoos all over, and it’s more like a campsite with everyone from different parts of the world just getting together randomly and making new friends. Perhaps one day I’ll give that kind of travelling a shot :)

06383.jpg 06384.jpg
06385.jpg 06386.jpg
06391.jpg 06392.jpg
06393.jpg 06394.jpg
06387.jpg 06388.jpg
06389.jpg 06390.jpg

After a scrumptious dinner, we gathered at this stage area by the sea, where the kids went on to play games such as Mummy (in both senses) wrapping, Limbo Rock etc. It was freakin’ hilarious! I almost died laughing when the mummies were made to dance, and I swear they look like pocongs what with their hopping around kwang kwang kwang!

06395.jpg

At 10pm, the three of us sneaked away from the family and went to the beachside bar to grab mocktails and played poker cards, laughing to our heart’s content till around 1130pm. Famished, we poked around and found a foodstall still opened, and over french fries and prata, continued our revelry till past midnight.

Haha, the parents did call us to get home but in response to their hand signal of “come back”, we waved goodbye and kept shouting “Later! Later!” Hoho. Holiday mahhhh :P

06404.jpg 06397.jpg
06398.jpg 06399.jpg
06400.jpg 06401.jpg
06402.jpg 06403.jpg

Third morning, after breakfast, the initial plan was just to play volleyball by the beach, but one by one, we responded to the call of the sea and jumped in after barely 10 minutes of hitting the ball wakakaka.

As if swimming at the beach wasn’t enough, we later jumped into the pool hahaha! Now you can guess how chaotared I am right? Ahakz!

Eh but seriously swimming at the Redang ocean compared to Singapore is so damn syiok! The waves are like woah woah woah! I was like up to my neck in water, and when the wave came, I just did this superman thing and by the time I managed to get a breath of air, I realised I was already ashore! Wakakakaka. I spent more then 3 hours just repeating the whole process I tell ya.

06405.jpg 06406.jpg
06407.jpg 06408.jpg
06409.jpg 06410.jpg
06411.jpg 06412.jpg

06413.jpg

06414.jpg 06415.jpg
06416.jpg 06417.jpg
06418.jpg 06419.jpg
06420.jpg 06421.jpg

In the late evening, after everyone had their fair share of deep sleep, it was time to fill up our tummies and for the mummies to get their souveniors. The gift shop at our resort sucked, so we ventured to the nearby resorts which had much better variety.

Along the way, we managed to catch a guy from the backpacker resort perform some card tricks, speak to some islanders etc. Uber cool! Hafiz, Fauzi and I tried to swing on the hammock together, but at the count of 3 after the first push, the three of us fell on our backs with a thud, causing ripples of laughter from the islanders. Paisehhhhh!

06422.jpg

At night, we gathered at that foodstall which Fauzi, Hafiz, Wani and I had supper the night before after our recommendations. Power! Definitely beats the food from the overpriced restaurant back at the hotel I tell ya!

06423.jpg

There we chilled and talked cock for the next hour or so, the kids running amok playing carrom, pool and whatnot. I just hopped from one location to another, trying to immerse myself in the experience fully, as usual. Kwangkwangkwang!

06427.jpg 06426.jpg
06425.jpg 06424.jpg

As the parents and toddlers congregated in 1 room playing scrabble etc, the teen sneaked out to another room and there we played more card games, blind man etc. It was so hilarious when the kids entered and we hid behind chairs la, curtains la haha. It was a given that they found us hoho!

But later we managed to somehow pry ourselves away again and had the whole room to ourselves. Syiokkk I tell ya! I’ll definitely miss nights like these, so carefree :)

064241.jpg

Last morning boohooohooo. We had our last breakfast and then straight away boarded the ferry and coach back to home sweet home Singapore. Another exhaustive 13 hour journey, of which we finally reached home at 11pm. There are many more pictures of the journey back actually (and tons more from the whole trip), but I just spent HOURS doing up this entry and I’m already so damn tired. haha.

So yeah, hope you enjoyed the purge of pictures! Toodles babies, I have work tomorrow BAH! At least, its only 8 more days to freedom hehehee :D

eh your pixies very sharp.
what camera ah?
LSR eh?
did you had to edit them

Faddy replies : Haha no lah not SLR. Cannot afford :( I only use the Canon Powershot IS3, which looks like a mini SLR. It’s a semi pro cam. I edit most of my pics, but usually only to adjust the brightness and contrast as the sun is either too glaring, or the picture is too dark :)

Furthermore, I’m a well known scatterbrain, thus the pictures help in remembering events and whatnot. Btw, where did you get that quote from? Thats SUCH a true quote man.
