Seventh Day Of Ramadhan.

The Seventh Day of Ramadhan’s breaking of fast was with the whole of Daddy’s side, well, except for Daddy and Mummy as Daddy still can’t walk around pretty much. Haha.. He was so sad that he couldn’t join the iftar that he went moping around for a while at home.

There was a whole spread of food at Grannie’s by the time I reached and it was kinda hilarious as the aunt who wanted to cook the main course (rice), actually brought all the dishes except for the rice! Haha.. So ended up we ate just small dishes like Rojak, Roti John, Chapati etc. However, due to the abundant amount, it was still pretty much filling :)

Afterwhich the whole family cleared the hall and proceeded to jemaah Maghrib, Isyak and Terawih together, led by one of my Uncles. It was so darn cute seeing the lil ones pray! Haha.. I almost giggled myself silly when I accidentally saw one of the young ones still in a sujud position, whilst everyone else had already stood up. How cute.

After the prayers, I sat around with the kids (my Dad’s side is FULL of kids), drawing, coloring and singing praises for their artistic stick figures. Wish I had taken pictures, i tell you. The pictures they drew were so darn cute and innocent!

Zakri (one of the kids), for example, drew something like the above. The mushroom-like figure on the left is a tree, the girl with the antennae is actually a girl with long hair, and the house is actually based on the “Monster House” movie which he just watched recently. Cute kannnnn. Sigh~

After a while the kids got bored and started running around the house like madmen on the loose, making me feel rather dizzy. Drawing and coloring I can take but running around getting punched, balls slamming into your face, 10000 decibles of children screaming - that’s a whole different story yo. Haha.

I retreated back and started talking with the adults as usual, and on the way home, one of the aunts had a talk with me about the tudung and motorbikes and oh my God does she understand me or whaaaaaaaaaaat.

How I wish my mom was more ‘open’ like my aunt. Maybe it’s the age gap thing which makes her more conservative, since my aunt is still relatively young. Bluek.

There Ain’t No Privacy On The Internet, Darling. (Sixth Day Of Ramadhan)

I guess it’s safe to say that most of us have come across blogs which are password protected by this annoying pop up which sometimes doesn’t go away no matter how many times you click “cancel”.

And then we groan inwardly as inaccessibility would mean we wouldn’t get to read the latest gossips or stories by that said blogger. Irritating feeling, isn’t it? For all you know, the blogger password protected it because of YOU! Wakaka..

However, in this wonderful era of technology and complicated computer programming, for every effect there IS a counter effect. For every spyware we have an anti-spyware programme. For every virus, we have an anti-virus programme. And yes, for every javascript protected blog, there IS a way to get around it sneakily.

(Oooh. I sense those who use that same method all quivering in their knees. haha.. Sorry dearies, but you’ve GOT to know that your “protection” method is flimsy as hell and there are probably already 10 unwanted people reading your blog everyday without you knowing it.)

So today, I will empower all of you readers with the knowledge on how to get your way around these irritating password enquiries, so you can happily continue reading without having to know the password :)

First and most importantly, download Mozilla Firefox. There may be other ways to do this, but I’m only aware of this one method.

This next step comes only after you have installed the programme. It works just like IE, only way better :) haha! Whenever you’re free, just search around for extensions and themes for Firefox. They have a million and one ways to make your surfing experience better, trust me. Maybe I will elaborate on this some other time.

Aaaaanyway, click on Tools > Options and the above window will pop up. Go to the Content tab, do as the picture says, key in again the blog address that you’re so geared to sneakily read, and…

WALA! You’re in. Hahha. Yada Yada. You must be grinning at how easy it is kan?

(Ok non related but i suddenly smell sheesha. Sigh~ I think I want to buy a sheesha machine seh. Anyone know how much those things cost? Don’t tell me the price of the thing in Dubai, I will personally whack you around the head.)

So, once you’re in, don’t forget to check back that “Enable Javascript” box. If you find it rather tiresome to click 4 times and instead you want to know the password to that blog, caannnn! Very easy. All it takes is 2 clicks (after you’ve managed to gain entry for the first time)!

After sneakily getting in for the first time, just right click on the blog, and the above window will appear. Search for “View Page Source” and click that. This will open up a new window altogether.

The window that has opened up should look like a Notepad entry. Look around for a code which looks something like the above picture (it should be somewhere at the top) and take note of the words at the location of which I’ve pointed out. That, my readers, is your forbidden key :D Just remember it in your head, and you’re good to go!

Oh and I’m so kind as to give you a room for practice sessions. Haha! Click here to see if you’ve got it.

Hmm kind of makes me think whether or not there are ways to get pass MY password protected posts. Eeek! Scary! Haha.. Anyway, I can’t guarantee that it is 100% safe, but from my limited technology knowledge, Wordpress provides a much stronger password protection, and I personally think it is way better then Blogger.

Way, way, better. Teehee! So the moral of the story is, use Mozilla Firefox, Wordpress and please continue reading my blog for more simple tech stuff :D

Breaking of fast today was rather boring, what with Mummy and Daddy at the shop. The brothers and I just had some “tapao”ed food from the stalls downstairs and ate in silence. Haha.. How sad.

Oh well, at least next week I’m eating outside 2 - 3 times. Joyous occasions, yes, but I do wonder what Mummy’s reaction would be when I inform her later :D

Fifth Day Of Ramadhan.

I know all of you miss Peah totot, so I went out with her today so that I can take photos of her and please a vast majority of you. HAHA! NOT! I miss that bugger so much as it seemed like years since we’ve last went out. Everyone busy with promos what for the past few weeks. The only times we see each other were before and after papers. So we decided to break fast together-gether today.

The initial plan was to get to Geylang, but aboard the train we realise it would be kind of funny to go Geylang with not much money and just the two of us, so we decided to head out to Bugis, or more specifically, Arab Street.

We ate at one of the coffeeshops along the path leading to Kampong Glam Cafe. Quite worth it, as a plate of Nasi Goreng Kampung with wings and keropok only cost us $4. Cheap ey? Furthermore the service was rather good what with friendly waiters and the food was delivered on time.

I felt that it was kinda weird, as even though Arab Street is like such a Malay/Muslim place, I still could spot a handful of Mats and Minahs eating/smoking/drinking before the Azan commenced. And there’s like so many Minahs wearing tubes and miniskirts walking around Masjid Sultan.

I think I get why Mum asked me to wear long sleeves everytime I go out during Ramadhan. It’s like kind of respecting the month, and I don’t get much stares by Makcik2 when I enter the masjid to pray. Haha.. This teen who was wearing a 3/4 skirt and tshirt kept getting stared at until I feel so poor thing for her. C’mon lah, at least she’s praying, unlike the throngs outside who “break fast” but never pray :P

(This doesn’t mean that I am better then them in any way, in fact, maybe these people have much more iman then me. It’s afterall, between them and God. hoho!)

By the time we finished with Maghrib prayers, it was around 8pm so we headed out to the much hyped about Bazaar at the open field. That place.. is.. so.. PATHETIC. Omg, all that hoohaa for nothing?!

There were barely any visitors, and NONE of the shops caught our eyes. Circling the entire thing took us, what, 10 minutes? So horrible! Ok I am so going Geylang next week with my besty couzy. Ok besty couzy? No Bugis Bazaar for us!

Peah and I kinda lost the plot (and our mood), so we started heading home by 815pm. That’s like SO freaking early, but what to doooo~ ahaha..

Oh yeah, Prison Break in 3 minutes. Bye kids! The main actor is SO hot.

Fourth Day Of Ramadhan.

We had a simple meal of Gado-Gado for the breaking of fast, where Mummy just mashed up whatever ingredient she could find in the refrigerator. I think our Magic Fridge can somehow transfer leftovers from other households to itself - the amount of leftovers seem to remain the same no matter how many times we use leftovers to cook! Haha..

Anyway, as you may have noticed for the past few days, each of my family members have their own designated seats at the dining table. It’s been going on for years and the meal would just be different if we sat on another member’s seat (ok, maybe only I feel that way). Hoho. I’m quite particular like that.

So erm. Today’s a really boring day, nothing much to update about except for the fact that i think I’m falling ill. The symptoms are all here - itchy throat, slightly higher temperature, runny nose. Bluek. I hope it doesn’t become something heavy :(

Oh yeah, one more thing. For those who enquired, Daddy has been better already just that he’s still on MC. Mummy too has been better, just that she isn’t allowed to move about much and can’t drink milk in any form. She’s been going nuts without her coffee intake, i tell ya.

“Mak, what you drinking for breaking fast later?”

“Err.. Nescafe Coffee?”

“NO! There’s gonna be milk what!”

“Alah.. Very little only what..”

“No no no no. Nah! Take this vege fruit juice!”

*Frowns*

Kwangkwangkwang. Kind of funny for me to forbid her from drinking something for a change. haha..

Third Day Of Ramadhan.

My iman/patience was really put to test this morning when I found out that I had no lessons for the day, at all, as the teacher who was conducting the only lesson I was supposed to have (General Paper) was on MC. Plus him, that gives a grand total of 3 teachers who are away for the whole of this week. Kind of makes you rethink whether or not to come to school, yes?

I had to go through a long draggy procedure with the office in order to break free from within the school premises and was finally released back into the wild, a good 90 minutes after I stepped into the compounds. Bah! I could have been sleeping during that 90 minutes! I could have surfed the internet! I could have sang lullabies to my mum who was was miserably sick (more about this later)! I could have.. I could have…

The opportunity costs are equivalent to infinity, i tell ya. Ninety minutes, NINETY!! Ok, stop exagerrating Faddy. Teeheehee..

I reached home at around 9am to a very sick Mummy. When I left her in the morning, she was lying on the sofa in the living room, looking pale and sick. And when I reached home 2 hours later, she was lying down on her bed in her room, still looking pale and sick.

After her forcing me to sit next to her to watch some sex education programme on tv, I got her whatever she needed and closed the door behind me, leaving her to rest for the rest of the afternoon.

Only after much nagging on my part (haha like mother like daughter!), she finally agreed to be dragged to the neighbourhood clinic the moment it opened, at around 6pm. After she signed in, the brother and I proceeded to the Bazaar just across the street.

Wahhh there was quite a spread of food to be chosen I tell you, and the crowd was getting bigger by the minute. I had to wait like 15 minutes in the queue just to get normal dishes. Added to that, the person manning the stall couldn’t see me as I was too short so she kept asking the people around me first. Haha.. It was only after I tiptoed that she noticed. Bluek!

We got rice and side dishes for the parents and Laksa for the brothers and I. The Sambal Stingray was dammnn syiok man! And no, I am not going to start any Steve Irwin revenge thingy. Haha..

We headed back to the clinic to pick Mumsy up and reached home a couple of minutes after the Azan had been aired over the radio. Nah, no after banter today as the mum was feeling too dizzy and we were all devouring the delicious stingray. Hoho..

Daddy practically begged Mummy to allow him follow her to the shop tomorrow, as he said he was going crazy staring at tv at home all day long since last week. Haha! Kasihan Bapaku, macam kene penjara pulak!

Ps. I was highly suspicious that the Top 12 were actually lip-synching for yesterday’s performance, and after reading numerous blogs like Irfan’s, turns out I was right. Haiyo, why like that Singapore Idol? Vhyy?!

Second Day Of Ramadhan.

I broke my fast today with the family again, a simple feast of some noodles which mom cooked. I was supposed to be at the stadium watching the Idol results, but I blew off the opportunity twice. The first one, from AhBoi a couple of day’s back. And the second, from Kimmy, who called me at 615pm as he managed to get extra tickets. Bro, did you think I was Superwoman, able to change in 10 seconds in a phonebooth? Haha.

Anyway we had our normal after-break fast banter and Mummy told the story of our ancestors on her side. Apparently, the whole lineage of my Mum’s side had been rather well off, until my Granddaddy got duped off more than $1 million.

My Great Grandad was coined “Wak Mael Kantong”, which was supposed to depict someone who was very well off. He had land all over Paya Lebar, rows of shophouses on Arab Street, Thomson Road etc. Sadly, when he passed away, his children decided to divide the assets. Most sold them off for liquid cash.

Granddaddy kept his row of shophouses on Thomson Road, choosing to rent them off. However, after a few years, somehow he was tricked into signing contracts which would transfer the land unto the rentee’s name. When the government recovered the land, the rentee got away with ALL the money, more the $1 million of it, leaving my Granddaddy in the dust. Ouch.

On another note, don’t you just miss Taufik Batisah? Haha. I felt so much nostalgia upon seeing him singing again. I can still remember two years back during the first Singapore Idol, I was watching the results show at Claire’s old crib and was crying tears of joy when Taufik won. Hahaha!! How loser-fied is that?

Anyway, Mummy says that Taufik’s mum came to her shop a couple of times to buy stuff as apparently they had moved to somewhere around our area. Hmmm.. Maybe I should start working at the shop! -wink

Finally, I know you all already know it, but heck. HADY WON!! Kwangkwangkwang~ I was so happy and overjoyed and relieved that my money didn’t go to waste. Ok la I know $6 not much as compared to Zirah’s family who spent $100, and Jon’s family who forked out over $60, but they had their parents and I have only my pockets to rely on ok! hahaha!!

Whatever it is, $6 or $60, all of us had a common goal for Hady to win and he did!! Yippee!! Alhamdulillah, ok let’s all go sujud syukur.

And… we go back to studying. bye!

First Day Of Ramadhan.

I spent the entire day just lazing about, spending time with myself. One last day before the madness of school starts again, confirm at full speed. Nyeah! Dug out old photo albums, laughed at how un-cute I am as compared to my brothers, teared abit upon seeing pictures of my late elder brother :) Normal Ramadhan routine.

We broke our fast together, settling into our seats right on time as the Azan played. Looks like a lot of food right? Haha. It’s just freebies and leftovers from the refrigerator la, nothing much. After eating we talked about stuff and Mummy told the story of Arwah Abang (Late elder brother) like for the millionth time, but we sat and listen all the same cuz we all missed him in the smallest of ways.

He’s always here with us, during Ramadhan. We know, as each of us never fail to dream about him sometime during the month, every single year. I can’t wait for this year’s :)

Oh, Singapore Idol in 8 minutes. Spend your cents/dollars on Hady! H-A-D-Y!!! Hadyyyy!! Hahahaaa..

The Day Before Ramadhan.

How else better to start the day, then cleaning up truckloads of dust, papers, clothes and things like that which were strewn all over the place? Haha.. Woke up early in the morning, donned my housemaid clothes and started cleaning my room, the toilet etc.. Felt so gooood upon seeing the results!

So after doing some more household chores which Mum had designated, I finally got my luxurious 1 hour bath and started getting ready to meet my Claire Baby. Oh by the way, I think sometimes i can be a super neat freak. Like.. Once i start cleaning, I cannot stop until EVERYTHING looks spick and span. Hoho..

Claire and I went to Bugis and we were kinda taken aback by the amount of human bodies moving about. Ok, I know Bugis on a Saturday is confirm plus chop packed, but somehow today it was like FULL full. Like.. you know the traffic light leading to Bugis Village? It was as if there was a moshpit on the road divider. Yeah, THAT full.

So after shopping for like an hour plus, we watched John Tucker Must Die! haha.. My last movie before Ramadhan comes tomorrow :P The movie was kinda entertaining, very chick flick-y, as expected. For those who watched the movie already, don’t you think John Tucker’s brother is cuter? Haha.. No? Well Claire thought I was nuts by even thinking that.

Eh by the way, I saw these two books at Kinokuniya which I was too broke to buy. Someone get them for me? Tehehehe! The titles are “Making Globalization Work” by Joseph E Stiglitz and “The Undercover Economist” by Tim Harford. Ok I know none of you will buy them for me, but if you do spot any second hand ones, please tell me aight!

So after the movie we walked around somemore waiting for Moolah (Claire’s BF) to show up and then I went home sweet home just in time for Maghrib :) And so.. here I am blogging.

Yup, Ramadhan’s finally here. InsyaAllah, I plan to make this Ramadhan a spiritually fulfilling one, hopefully as a stepping stone to becoming a better Muslim. Maybe can find out who I am really..

So, don’t waste such a good month aight! For those of you who are already good Muslims, use this opportunity to become even better ones. And for those of you who are like me, use this opportunity to try and become a good one. Heh. InsyaAllah, amin.

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan! Jangan puasa yok yok alriiight? Korang semua dah tua bangka tau! Taktau malu ke ponteng puasa?! Hohoho…

We are family.

Ever since Daddy was placed under house arrest due to his operation (he has THREE weeks off from work!), Mummy has been taking the evening off from work. She used to have this system with my aunt where they would take care of the shop one day each, like taking turns lah like that. But now she takes mornings whilst my aunt takes the evenings.

It’s kind of great in a way, as we manage to spend much more time together. For the past few days, I’ve been hanging out at the kitchen talking and helping Mummy (abit abit) when she cooks, then we’d all (plus the brothers and Daddy) have dinner together afterwhich we’d roll around in front of the teevee whilst bantering about stuff we did on the day.

I have always thought it would be horrible if Mummy and Daddy were to be at home all the time as it equates to more nagging and things like that. But I guess I’ve jumped to conclusions. Haha.. Mummy rarely nagged! Maybe it’s because we have a healthy relationship now.

How I wish we can have evenings like these every single day :( Once Ramadhan starts, Mummy might have to revert to her one day taking turns system, whilst 2 weeks from now, Daddy would have to go back to work and he should be back to working 7am to 11pm which means, I’ll never get to see him properly again.. Bluek.

Ps. I have replied comments on the Ali Ghost Story :) And hahaha to all those who jabbed me at school!
